Jungle RC-3

Personally ... I'd of taken your offer of $100 and a NEW knife :D

Yeah, but with the value of the dollar being so low, it was like offering him a pack of gum!

Kidding...thank god the dollar is doing better, we send $ to family in Colombia and last year the exchange rat was ugly! :barf:

Jeff, awesome picture. I think you just won your own photo contest for the month! :D

Welcome back!

 Very nice! And here I was thinking my rc-4's were becoming well used. Apparently I have just barely broken 'em in. I gotta go play in the mud some more :D

wow.. if it is that used and only has that much rust on it, no one should be too worried about RAT blades and rust.

It is great that the knife has been used so much! if that knife could talk we all would have just sat here listened to all the stories!

Awesome picture JEFF. It is interesting how the handle were worn down in different places. Would you ever have to replace it?

That thing is going to look awesome again once the paint finishes wearing off. It's a nice photo to show people how 1095 can take care of itself with patina.

Wow! What a beautiful picture! As others have said, if that knife could tell stories...

Welcome back, Jeff!

What is "patina"?

It's how the surface of non-stainless carbon steel oxidizes when exposed to air, moisture, etc. It's that dark gray/black color that knives and other steel develop over time. Think of it as "good" rust. Since the iron is oxidized, it helps prevent the development of "bad" rust. Look at the sticky on 1095 and Rust in this subforum.

Traditional knife collectors love patina - it gives the blade character, tells you where it's been.

$100 and a new RC 3.
WOW,this knife must have some pretty good mojo with it's owner, some good RAT karma!!
