Amazing pics. The jungle looks beautiful and scary as hell at the same time! And it looks like Jeff ditched those ESEE knives for a chainsaw
Got to use what works. ESEE knives are just recycled cans with an edge!
Great pics Reuben - that must have been a blast !
It was the best time ever with good friends.
Dig that orange knife. Is that Scrapyard?
It was my smaller point and shoot Canon G10. It took a full dunk in chest deep murky jungle swamp and was out for the count. A day later it started to work slowly and eventually came back to life. I lost almost 2 whole days of photos. Canon rules!
Some kind of Scrapyard knife one of the students had.
that's nice, thanks for sharing!
what kind of survival trip was it? with some friends or organised?
Both, it was an organized survival class with the Randall's Adventure and Training group. They just happen to be good friends.
WOW, looks awesome! How did the Cold Steel Barong and the TOPS power eagle do? I want one of each of those, and would love to hear the feedback on them!!! What a great place to test your skills and tools / gear!
Thanks for sharing with us!!!
There will be a full review of the TOPS Power Eagle in SWAT magazine, but let me tell you...it rules. In the jungles of Asia they use shorter heavier knives about 12" in blade length. In Latin America they go, longer and thinner.
Cold Steel Barong kicked ass. I have always like the Filipino style Bolo’s and Barong's, which is why I was so interested in the TOPS Power Eagle. Both were used everyday and used by all. The lines between, my blade or your blade blurs when out in these type of camps. People just grab whatever is there and that means your personal blade can sometimes go missing for hours while someone else is making camp or dinner.
