What kind of spider is this?

It looks like a Common garden orb-web spider (Argiope australis), or at least of the same family if one look at the pattern of the back. If I am correct of the species they are harmless to man.

Thanks for sharing the pictures bearthedog, wish I was there it looked like another great trip!
