On the site there's a list of required equipment for the Jungle Survival course. I noticed it doesn't have anything about sleeping gear. Is this because it's provided or do you build what you need from the environment?

We build it in the jungle. Poncho is all the blanket you need

I lived in southeast Asia for a couple of years and a thin sheet was all we ever needed to keep the chill of the ceiling fan off of us. ;)

So, no hammock? How do you keep off of the ground?

why would you sleep off the ground?

afraid of a few spiders...snakes...flooding...?

Jungle Bed. Great shelter bed combo.

Moose

the closest I have ever gotten to any jungle is the woods in Maine...so you are correct ;)

One thing you don't do in South America jungles is sleep on the ground without any protection. You would be cannibalized by the ants in no time.

I thinking I might be too much of a pansy for that jungle training now. I've done a trip down a tributary of the Amazon in Bolivia but we had a tent. Craziest thing I remember seeing were monkeys, crocs and dolphins. Don't remember spiders or ants. Thank goodness for tents! :p

I think Les Stroud tried that in an episode of Survivorman...he just sat under a tree all night wacking bugs off him, no sleep.

I have three of their double hammocks (I have a big family ;)) they are the shiz!

The "testimonial" on their homepage is from me... about this outing. :)
