Junk = Shim

Good thread. Have you ever done the shims out of Aluminum soda cans?

My wife found a floppy disk the other day and we were joking about when they were new... made me wanna find my beta copy of the movie 'Rad'. :D

Hell, yall are still talking "back when" floppies had a metal tab on them. Kids. Doesn't anyone remember the 5 1/4" floppies? I do.

The greatest game I ever played came on a 5.25" and had to be booted from the disk in DOS. Quest for Glory all the way baby!

God bless,
Adam

PS: So you want to be a hero?

The good ol' days when computers were slow as hell and not a necessity.

I really feel old. I started with computers using key(punch) cards and key punch machines. Computers were the size of a truck and you gave your stacks of cards to the "programers" and had to wait two or three days only to find out you were missing a card or one was out of place. For the guys that don't know about those days, computers didn't even have screens. You had to use flow charts, reams of paper and a good memory to progam.

:rolleyes:

Try that with this lock:

Also, more combination locks are incorporating a different toes which aren't shimmable.

And that's why they make small cutting torches :D

I see your cutting torch and raise you an Abloy 350. :D

I have a pair of these (though with the extended shackles) sitting on my desk. Quite the paper weights.

In all seriousness the shims are neat, but a decent set of picks and some practice, or if in a pinch some various rakes available will open more locks then a soda can.

I ran over one of these with a 150A TIG welder. After spending about five minutes on it I realized I would rather not have whatever it's inside.

Disregarding the fact a plasma torch or thermal lance isn't exactly pocketable, sure it will cut it. Just takes some time.
