Forgive me all if I am boring you with my new found fascination with military type knives, particularly those by Imperial & Schrade. There are so many Mil knives available, I have to limit it to one brand. Or go to the poor house. It started with my asking our LT about the Imperial M7-S. So I blame him!

I showed you the slight rework I did with an old M7S, but here is a shot of what a pro can do with an old Imperial M7 bayonet:

Made by the Peloza Brothers. I was lucky, the one they had in stock (usually a 4 to 6 week wait) was exactly what I wanted. Highly polished blade, leather washer and colored spacer handles, bronze hilt and pommel. A great looking leather sheath and storage bag. It is their rendition of the M3 fighting knife. Was mailed to me yesterday.

If there is any interest, I'll post more when I get it.

Phil

Here's the last update on the 'remodel' I did of the old and beat up M7-S. I was practicing a paint job I'm gonna give to a .22 squirrel rifle. I thought I ought to have a SAK for one of the pouches in the sheath (thanks, Larry), that got painted as well. The finish is tough, tough, tough with the coats of clear enamel and the wax I put on.

Hey Phil, we are always interested in knife lore, knife pictures and plain old knife talk. Sooooooo, keep the information flowing. :)

Hooray for Schrade.
Hooray for ping pong balls.

Bill

Why not blame me. We used to have an expression in the family anything positive that happened in the world was due to my wife. Anything negative ( any thing ) war, hunger, earthquake was obviously my fault. That knife is a dandy. You have really come up with one that impressed this country boy. Thankyou for the pics I am afraid to ask what the price range of one like that is. That is a WOW. LT

Nice work Phil,

Besides being a very shrewd trader....( read, generous)... you do nice customizing work as well. I am envious of the high quality work that is displayed in this forum, but pleased to be a part of the discussions.

Someday I will post my pictures of multicolored ping pong balls.

Bill

It is not the color of the ping pong ball it is the distance ascertained, which we all know is determined by force of release as well as windage and elevation. Which in this context if you think about it can be quite Nauseating . LT.

Uhhh.....no ping-pong balls, but since we are talking about military knives, I have a couple...

The 3rd is one I bought somewhere, maybe SMKW? The second is one that my father had. I don't know the history behind it. It was all in cosmoline when I got it, so I don't know if it ever saw use.

The USAF pilot's knife is one my father carried. As an EOD (bomb disposal guy), he had this one originally attached to another sheath with blasting tools attached. It's hard to see, but when i took them apart, I made a replacement pocket for the stone, and stamped Dad's initials into it.

Don Luis, there's some rookie knot work hanging off the end of that sheath, though hard to see in my low-light picture...

In regards to my Peloza, LT wrote: "I am afraid to ask what the price range of one like that is". Well, I see Wanna be military knives by SwampRat, Busse Combat, others, ground on CNC machines by the dozen and put together with hex head bolts selling for $300 and up. This remake by the Pelozas is done by hand. All of them are different, and they will make 'em up special as asked. For the princely sum of $125.00. They want their knives to be affordable users. Besides, I'm just a caretaker for this knife; sooner or later it will probably go to a real fighting man.

Glenn, I like seeing the AFSK. I carried one in Vietnam. Got it in trade with a .38 special from a chopper pilot going home. I was a combat engineer so I did some demo work as well. A few months ago a young Swedish solder was asking about this knife on 'KnifeForums.com'. I sent him an Email asking for his address, and then sent him one of those AF survival jobs, a brand new Camillus. I enjoyed holding one again.

The middle photo seems to be an M3 bayonet, for an M1 carbine. Would be worth over a hundred or so, I think. I am no expert, though. Looks to be in mint condition, of course if it was still in the cosmo when he got it, it probably is.

Military knives are a whole 'nother thing for me. As I wrote above, I think I will just concentrate my learning/collecting efforts on Imperial/Schrade products, to narrow things down.

Phil,

I too am clueless when it comes to those types of knives.

Oh yeah, here's a good one that I remember. My dad said that all the EOD types were given the choice of what type of knives to use, etc. This was back awhile, of course, and they all got Randalls...I think he said alot of them ending up getting traded away for this or that. If only they knew...

I actually just picked up a new Camillus AFSK off ebay a few months back. I had another years ago when I was a teenager. Accidently threw it and some other nice knives out when I was cleaning my room. I still kick myself hard for that one.
