Junkyard dog is pure win!

This is another thread I should not have ventured into. After I learned about the Dog, I had to have one.

I am now an excited owner of a JYD II composite.

I hope you're proud of yourselves! :D

Ok we're good now, tip downs only ok for really small edc knives.

Disagree! Tip-up only works on smaller knives for me...

I used to have one of the original JYD 1's, but I got rid of it because it failed spine-tap tests. I wish I still had it, though. It was an amazingly solid little knife.

JYD2 or the Rake?which one should i get

If you have a big or bigger hand get the JYD......medium size hands the Rake. I like the blade shape on both knives. I like the flipper on the JYD better than the ao on the Rake.

Having a handle the right length is a pet peeve of mine. I have big hands and the JYD is just long enough for me the handle on the Rake is too short.

The Big Ugly clip on the JYD is easy to mod. I've done 2 so far. I used a dremel on # 1 and a grinder and a dremel on #2. I HT #2 also....looks great with gray g-10.

The more material you take off of the clip the better it looks IMO.

Tim Galyen(sp) must have tried to design the uglyist clip he could.......he came up with a Winner.:thumbdn::thumbdn::eek:

This is my EDC blade (until my Azrael gets here)

I own 3 JYDII's... 2 are CP

every one of them came hair popping sharp out to the box, so it looks like your was a fluke.

You're right about the clip... it's a bit too broadcasty, and tends to hang up on stuff when i'm not paying attention.

Overall this is the best designed folder that i own. I've used it to peel more than a few deer.

POIDH

This is the knife I carry clipped into the waistband of my athletic shorts. Large but light makes it perfect for this application.

I wish Kershaw would revisit the Ti/SG2 concept with a different composite blade design.

JYD2 or the Rake?which one should i get

I agree with Clockman on the handle size issue; the Rake is a little on the small size for my glove-size-large hands. The other issue that I see is that the Rake has a LOT of belly; whether that's a plus or a minus is personal preference and suitability for the intended task. Better yet, don't decide on either, just get both! :)

I have always liked my JYD but have never carried it much due to it's size, sheeple intimidation factor and that darn Star trek pocket-clip. If I were to carry it, I think I would take the clip off and slip it into the hidden, side-compartment of my maxpedition EDC bag.
