I ordered a plain edge Kershaw JYD and got it in last week. I REALLY like this knife, BUT they sent me a partially serrated version.

I don't mind a partially serrated blade, but I really hate the serration style on the JYD. So..... I decided to make a few changes.

Here it is with my H&K USP.

This is a close up of the modified blade and the standard blade.

What do you think??

Really nice. I would never have noticed if they were'nt side by side and even then it looks factory. It even looks like it has a little more recurve to it. You do excellent work.

Yeah, when I looked at second picture, I was very confused, as I couldn't tell which one had been modified!

Great job... Tom Krein, ah, I just noticed who you were, and I guess I shouldn't be so surprised, huh?

I don't know why I'm surprised at how great it looks. Super job Tom!

I think it looks more balanced and less blade heavy now. That is one of my all time favorite Kershaw models too. Nice job not taking the black off. Is it pretty thick behind the edge though?

Thanks guys!

The blade thickness is actually pretty close to the factory edge. I only went a little over half way up into the serrations and then sharpened it.

I really like the recurve!!

:D

Seeing your HK makes me miss the one I had.
Nice!

Tom, Your mod looks great. Do I see a difference in the primary grinds? Could be the black coating. Just wondering if Kershaw changed the grinds. Thanks

Hey, that looks really nice, I like that profile much better than the original.

If a professional, world class knifemaker like Tom Krein can do it... so can I.

Right?.... Right?...... Nevermind.
