Just a birdy pic !

Just thought I'd share this pics from today. I was just coming back from taking my dogs a walk when I spotted this hawk at the top of my road eating another bird. Maybe someone can ID the hawk for me as I'm not all that up on my birds ?

I think that is a falcon of some kind. Perhaps a Prairie Falcon? Although it seems darker like a Peregrine.

What ever it is, it is beautiful.

I agree that it's a falcon of some sort, but I'm not sure which kind. I saw a swallow-tailed kite today but it was in flight and I didn't get a pic. Good stuff.

That looks pretty sweet. Wish I could help with the type it is, but I am only familiar with birds I see regularly

The striped eye, breast and tail spots make it look like it could be a Merlin.
They are all over in Canada.

you bet paleojoe, that is a merlin. See them taking down pigeons and starlings all the time.

Definitely a Merlin. Female adult.
Very cool. I've never gotten close enough to get a pic like that.

Swallow Tailed Kites are my favorite bird they are more dramatic to see than bald eagles for me.
