Just a knife

Absolutely beautiful! Is it a take down? The holes in the handle final look like they might be wrench holes.

Thanks for all the great comments. Makes all the work worth it. Will, it is seperate from the guard. Dan, I started to make it a take down but gave out of gas and wanted to see it complete.

"just a knife" my butt!

The bold pattern in the damascus is REALLY striking to me... the wide dark bands make the "layered" bands stand out even more. Contrast is a big deal to me; sometimes when I see 900-layer damascus it just becomes a blur to my eye.

How do you keep all the holes straight/aligned for all those pins in the handle? I can usually figure out the basics of how a knife was put together but that stumps me... looks like a nightmare to keep everything straight and even ?!?

Thanks for sharing, in any case!

Dan I am glad you posted this one, looks over the top.

"its just a knife" real meaning from Dan to me was a way to settle me down when I was making my first Damascus hidden tang knife with all damascus jewlery and stag handle. It worked! Since then we both use the term and keeps me from being too caught up or rather anal in my approach to a project. Unfortunately, I use another term when I do not quite conceive a concept that he is trying to relay. " I am from Missouri" when said by me means "show me". Dan is really great guy and friend, too bad more of you knifemakers don't live closer as he has been very willing and giving of his trade knowledge to the point he sacrifices his much needed time to work on his own projects. Thanks buddy, you're the best! Johnny Warner.
