Just a little farting around today

It wasn't bad out today (-8c) and I had the day off work, so I grabbed the 2. In the late fall I found a big chunk of petrified wood and just left it there, as I have enough already. But I decided to grab it anyway this time out. I also found a pre cats eye marble which I always watch for when metal detecting, or basically any time that I'm bumming around. The real thrust of the day was just to take the 2 out and zip up a natural local materials fire. It was quite easy to do today with the dryer materials. On the way back I ran into a little fuzzy fella.

Great post! It's got everything - Becker knife, wild life, fire, and ice.
Glad to see someone out enjoying mother nature instead of working or sitting in front of the tv, like me.
How big do river otters get? That one looks like he'd be at least 20 lbs.

Awesome stuff man. I need to get out and do something.

What a great post. It reminds me of what my mom always used to tell me when I was complaining of boredom: "Go outside! There's plenty to do." It really is great therapy for the ills of modern life. Thanks for the reminder. Love the otter - that fish looks bigger than most of the trout I've caught. Not that I've caught many.

Hey cool pics thanks for sharing. Looked like a good time. Stupid question - why are you finding marbles in the wild? Some natural/river-type formation, or are they real marbles? Old abandoned school? Haunted playground? Love finding cool/unusual stuff in the wild, you've piqued my interest...

Great pics, man that marble takes me back to my school days! The otter is cool too, got himself some lunch!

That does it. I'm packing up the Maxpedition Hot Chocolate Kit and taking the kids outdoors in a bit.

Nice. Very nice. That looks like beautiful scenery. I'll be out an about with my BK2 on Friday (trying for a darn turkey again) and then Monday hoping to bag a buck on the first day of season. I love being out in nature.....and using my Becker!

Great post and love the pics, especially the marble! That's quite a find. What did you use to make the patterns on the scales of the 2?

Looks like a good time was had!

Love your threads

Thanks. I believe that the critter is a mink. I am no authority, I just Googled it. :D I saw another, or maybe the same one, a few miles further up last year.

Actually I spend a lot, and I mean a lot of time outside. Not because I'm some Daniel Boon dude or some such. I just have many interests out there. This same creek was drawn down last year, only the second time in 100 years, and I was combing it for old bottles. I made some good scores back to the 20's.

I am always surprised to see the odd sucker in this creek as it was damned as a water supply for the old steam trains back in the day. It is sluggish, fairly shallow and the damns basically kill fish spawning runs. I still see critters like turtles etc. now and then though, so it's fun.

very cool thread. looks like a good time.

Thanks. I find peace out there. I was close to an old depression era ''hobo juggle'' which I did with a metal detector this fall. I found a three merry widows condom tin and an old bullet lighter. I'll try to dig up some pics.
