Just a little farting around today

Hey cool pics thanks for sharing. Looked like a good time. Stupid question - why are you finding marbles in the wild? Some natural/river-type formation, or are they real marbles? Old abandoned school? Haunted playground? Love finding cool/unusual stuff in the wild, you've piqued my interest...

The marbles are anywhere that children played back in the day. I find them primarily on old demo'd house sites while metal detecting for old coins. But they can just as easily be found in any wash out area along a river bed. I have found them back to the turn of the century and made of ceramic\clay. I find them as I have more or less trained myself to scan the ground for native arrowheads\points while out and about.

Thanks. I believe that the critter is a mink. I am no authority, I just Googled it. :D I saw another, or maybe the same one, a few miles further up last year.
Went back and looked at the pics....and I would agree. Being smaller than otters, it also puts that fish into perspective. Should have recognized it the first time; I've seen a fair number around here, but only one otter.

Nice. Very nice. That looks like beautiful scenery. I'll be out an about with my BK2 on Friday (trying for a darn turkey again) and then Monday hoping to bag a buck on the first day of season. I love being out in nature.....and using my Becker!

Cool. I used to do a lot of hunting then I let my licenses (it's complicated up here) lapse. I debated then said to hell with it and sold the guns off. My last hunting seasons were for migratory birds. It is amazing to hear the muffled thump of a big Canada when it hits the ground close by.

Marbles, fire, Beckers, and otters - now that's a dynamic-ass day.

At least I can't get my dumb azz lost in the woods around here. You can watch your dog running away from home for two days while sitting on a porch chair around here. :D

I'm curious of the marbles too. Are those naturally formed?

No. Too bad because It would be great fun to look for them, if they were. I once found a buffalo rib with a perfect diamond notch and long crack running down its length, were a stone point hit it. Unfortunately I slipped in the snow and shattered it. I was quite disappointed but still over the top happy, as later that day I found a large hand tooled silver fur trade broach from the 1780's.

My idiot dog disappears in about .5 seconds, so I'd definitely take the extra space.

Thanks for the post and pix........Always enjoy your company.......

Ethan

Thanks Ethan. It's good to see that you are moving through some past events. Many of us go through the same things, with the strong and brave admitting it.

Great stuff! Once had a large sea otter run up my front lawn, onto my deck, and peer into my front windows, when I was living on the beach in the San Juans....
Thanks for sharing!
