Just A Picture - Traditional Picture Show

Gasman1, I really enjoy your photos. They always make me slow down and really take them in. I like the way there's always layers of untold stories in them.

I hope you don't mind but I decided to try some different compositions myself, inspired by your photos.

(Excuse the phone camera quality - may have to get a decent camera after seeing your comparisons T. Erdelyi.)

This forum is making me want to buy my wife a nice camera. ;)

Good job, and really cool knife, Chin!

Cheers Colin.

Mate, I think your wife would really appreciate a nice new camera.

I daresay a couple of nice new pocket knives for her stocking for Christmas would be a really thoughtful gift too. ;):p

Thanks Chin. Pretty interesting shots you have there also.

Thanks Gasman1. The backgrounds are WW2 maps, photos and a notebook which belonged to my grandfather, who was a combat engineer in the 2nd AIF Royal Australian Engineers. They are preliminary reconnaissance maps of the Japanese held island of Labuan, Borneo, which must have been used for planning the amphibious assaults of June 10 1945 and the operations which followed.

The knife is, of course a Camillus TL-29.

While cleaning out my grandmother's house, (she's going to live in assisted living) I found this buck knife in its original packaging.
