Just A Picture - Traditional Picture Show

Ah, what a great story Gev.

I've been awaiting an update of the outcome of your kind gesture to Romeo a few pages back.

You reminded me of the time I saw a polystyrene box on the side of the market street in Yanaka, an old temple village which is now a suburb of Tokyo.

Someone had graciously weatherproofed it for one of the local cats.

A couple of weeks later I stayed in the area again, and I saw it had also been stormproofed in preparation for an imminent typhoon.

Oh, I suppose I need a knife pic too, so here's a random pic from the 'bucket:

Nice slingshot rig too. Those steel balls look like they'd pack a punch.
I love plinking away of an afternoon with my Weihrauch HW97K springer .22 air rifle.

It's so neat and speaks to your character that you took pictures. Loving the animals is a unbounded blessing. I looked up the rifle - sweet indeed. I have an old Benjamin that I had as a kid. I may pull it out. And ...I like that knife - great stag! That really is a wonderful pattern.

I love dogs and cats more than Some people. Is that wrong? Glad romeo came home Gevo. You sure can get attached to them. Chin, that is a pretty nice kitty condo.
Here's me and my buddy Luke.

And my old Barlow.

Luke is a great looking boy and the picture made me smile. He knows he is loved! Great to see another Ulster like mine with the sheepfoot. It's a beauty and what a great photo!!

Thank you sir. And you're right, Luke definitely is loved. My son and daughter brought him home when he was a puppy much to my disapproval. He is without question one of the smartest dogs I have ever had. I guess he can stay..

After admiring the pics of your Barlow I was shocked to run across one similar and just couldn't pass it up. Its one of my favorites now.

The 73 liner lock has become my new favorite knife. Here are two perfect examples. One is from 2008 and the other is from 2011

Excellent job on the bail. How did you fill the hole  Great photo!

Sorry there mate, missed your comment!
There was no hole, the bail was attached to the extended pin. I just took the bail of with pliers, dremeled the excess pin and then finished with sanding.

Thanks Gev and Gasman.

Another great pic, Gasman, and Luke looks like a fine buddy to have.

Well, it's the silly season, so I thought I'd go a bit Rothko for these photos.

I was visiting the forge of Kenichi Shiraki in Sakai, near Osaka and spotted these blades in a tub waiting for final heat treating.

The colours and shapes were very striking, so I took some closeup pics to use as a screensaver.

And the Master at work in his forge.

I hope you're all having a great festive season. :)

Wondrous copperhead ;):D

Great photograph and the stag on that knife is gorgeous. One of the first knives I found at a yard sale was that pattern. Its a great size.

Tonystl

Man o man...I need some of that stag! Just beautiful pieces!

GasMan

Another very cool photo! I cant guess what the tube things are on the left

Thank you fine Sir!

Chin

I had to look up Rothko and you nailed it  Thanks for the reference. What a treat to see the photographs - the colors are like looking at photographs of some distant galaxy. It must have been unbelievable to get to visit the masters forge and watch him work...wow!

I found this video of Kenichi at work:

Thanks! I wasn't that lucky to find mine on a yard sale.
But it was made in the same year as me, way back in the 70's, so I had to have it anyway.
Interesting video link you put there, Gevonovich. And cool pictures, Chin! Unbelievable how Kenichi is performing and creating..
Swaybacksteve, your deep purple handles are fitting perfectly to the heat treated steel pictures above. Nice one!

Chin, your Rothko pics. Look worthy to be on the block at Christies. And that tour looks pretty special too man.

Gevo, I don't really know what that things called. I just picked it up because it looked unusual  It has graphite in it and a spring plunger on the end.
