OLD FRIENDS HANGING OUT ON THE PORCH
View attachment 732605
Hello sir, indeed those items look very content hanging out on the "porch". I have never tried this type of mineral oil bath on any of my 1095 knives. Would love to hear benefits and process you use. Do you only run "used" knives thru bath or do you also run new knives thru process to flush joints, etc.? Thanks!

007 I only do this as one step in a process I use when I buy an old knife with rust. If you look close at the Texas Jack you can see the rust. I soak them over night in Mineral Oil then wash in warm water and Dawn and blow dry with compressed air. I follow up if really rough with 600 grit sand paper then 1200 then a Super Eraser. Afterwards a hand polish with either Flitz or Mothers and a micro fiber cloth. Last oil the pivot with a drop of 3 in 1 oil then sharpen and wipe blade with a very light coat of mineral oil.
