Just A Picture - Traditional Picture Show

All my 1970’s Case knives. I’m sending the 6231 1/2 off to get new covers put on it back with the original shield. possibly the Delrin 6235 1/2 as well. Going either with Sambar Stag or mammoth bark.... haven’t set my mind yet.

O.K. , you don't get to show something that perfect and not say who the maker is........?????????

It is Johan Ellis. Lovely guy, met him a few times. He lives in Springbok and is part time maker and Guild member. Like many of the other SA makers who are less prone to chat on forums, you'll sure find him on IG

You have some beautiful, shiny objects there, sir! And that Sebenza...wow!!!

Thank you, Joshua. If I remember, I'll put some more pics up of their work next Sunday

Mr Ellis does wonderful work. That knife is a beauty. Thys Meades knives have been shown here a few times. I think he is another SA maker.

Yes, Johan is a wonderful maker and very skilled - for a part-time maker I think his work is superb.

Thys's work is utterly outstanding considering he's not been making folders for too long. For me, he is the Jared Oeser of South Africa.

Met him about three years ago and he's since made me a wonderful Loveless pattern dagger - which the late great Rob Brown hadn't managed to finish for me - Thys was Rob's last pupil. He is a great young fella and we had a good laugh and chat when he came here and stayed at my house a few days.

The dagger, next to an old one of Rob's...

That is an amazing piece. I would love to own one like that.

Beautiful knives shown here. Thanks for showing those from the South Paul. Your mention of Nguni cattle horn reminds me of a John Lloyd knife that Vincent had/has. Also, if you will tell me about that silver bracelet you're wearing, I think I recognize the style.

- a pleasure.

I think Vince had an Nguni folder a few weeks ago that I liked, but it has disappeared - snooze, you lose.

As a kid in Kenya many of us wore an elephant hair bracelet.........all those years ago it didn't mean the same as owning such now. My dear ol' mother in law, bless her, bought me a silver one from Patrick Mavros https://www.patrickmavros.com/products/silver-elephant-hair-bangle-men/ - they, unfortunately for my wallet, have a store close to where I live - and my wife has benefited from my occasional loss of all senses
