Just A Picture - Traditional Picture Show

Dumb question time! Is anyone here using anything besides just a camera phone? If so, would you mind giving us a quick rundown of what you are shooting with? I know that most of what makes a good photo isn't dependent on the tools, but my iPhone 6 just doesn't seem to be getting the job done. (I blame the old iPhone!) If this is covered somewhere else on BF or if you know of any photo-taking resources that would apply, please point the way. I also realize it helps to have great knives like the ones shown here; I'm working on remedying that, too.

I just looked at some of your photos and I Do Not think there is anything wrong with whatever you are using for a camera .

Old Engineer Old Engineer Thanks, Harry. I appreciate that. It could be that I'm just trying to justify a new phone purchase. 😆

If anyone would like to share some quick photo-taking wisdom, though, I'm all ears.

The most important thing to get a good photo is lighting. I find that taking pictures near a brightly lit window works the best. Of course, good cameras help, but even when I had an iphone 4, I got pretty good photos with bright, indirect light.

At night, indoors, even with a lamp, they usually turn out not so great.

🤔
I don’t know anything about cameras and always just use my iPhone 12, but I think like Steve said, lighting is the key to a good shot. I like slightly overcast days for outdoor pics.
Exactly (i12) what I have been using all along.
Very, very simple and effective I find. Much better than any other I’ve used in the past.

Thank you kindly !!
There are others around here that REALLY know how to shoot with a camera, I’ve unfortunately never have had the time to properly learn these methods.
It’s just so simple on the phone cam and exceptional to my taste.
Try a 12 or any other recent phone, as you can’t imagine what it’ll do for your pics, but lighting is still key.

Camera phone and edit with Snapseed. Kinda like Photoshop on the go. Very easy and time friendly to use - at least I don't spend much time using it. Also, it's free.
