That is Lord Ganesh, what an apt metaphor!

In Hinduism, Ganesh is the God of wisdom and new beginnings, typically worshipped before starting any new enterprise. And idol similar to the one in picture is typically found on a car's dashboard - bang at the center spot facing the occupants - people worship him before starting the car, praying to keep them safe on the road.
