Just a thought regarding photos

Kind of a pointless thread butttttttttttt: One of my main annoyances on this site is that when someone posts a pic of a knife I cant tell how big or small the knife is in real life... Fair enough if they say the overall length of the knife, but even then I find it hard to get a good mental picture of how big it would be. All knife pics should be placed beside a human hand for size comparison lol. Again this was just a thought with no likely resolution.. :P

True! :D An average human hand then lol. Ill google what that is... Okay according to wikipedia: "The average length of an adult male hand is 189 mm"

What the hell is mm? LOL. Yeah, I always look at the knife specs for something in my range and then search to see if there are any comparison photos. Oh, and this thread is worthless without pics. ;)

Leave it to wikipedia to measure the human hand in millimeters, a measurement no honest American quickly grasps

I'm just going to start taking pictures with my livestock in the background for scale. I mean, who doesn't relate to the size of your average Brangus steer?

How about putting a ruler in the picture? I have rulers with both metric and imperial measurements.

Wow, Leek_Freak-- very nice. I love the clarity of your picture, and the included objects do provide a good idea of scale.

I have a lot to learn about taking better pictures, but did just try out the ruler idea:

Now, if I could only get the picture to scale perfectly on my screen....

I would rather not post my credit card. :)
Not everyone is familiar with the size of American money.
