I was just on the Buck For sale side and thought how nice it was that many posters have locked their threads after their knives have sold.

You can lock your post by opening it, and going to the FORUM TOOLS box and clicking the option.

Sure makes it easier when looking through the for sale knives.

Thanks!

It's also considered good Forum etiquette to leave the selling price posted after the sale...It makes it easier for newcomers to get a feeling for How Much Is It Worth without cluttering up the main Buck forum... :)

Although some members seem to think it is to their benefit to hide the sale price...and asking price...and any price... :grumpy:

/rant of the day

Personally, I prefer removing the price...as that price usually does not reflect my final selling price. Sometimes, after email exchanges, I'll sell a knife for considerably less than I was asking for it... so, info left could be misleading, besides, knives are only "worth"...what you are willing to pay.

PR, I'm with ya, "lock'em", that way that 2 year old thread doesn't get resurected.

I am kinda middle of the road on blanking the prices. Can see it either way. Maybe a trade or cash and trade, but then again some sort of indicator as to what things are going for, whether too low, or too high.

But lock them after the transaction has ended in the for sale subforum.

Here in this regular forum, old threads might have good info and spark some interest a few years down the road. An example might be the "glue" thing on the old scales. Some of the new guys probably haven't got a clue about that one. (and lets not start a Q&A in this thread bout that)

So just sayin maybe to not lock cool info in this forum. But even if,,,, one could still do a c&p and plug a question into a new thread.

...And link to the original thread; yes, that is a good idea...but linking to a For Sale thread from the main Forum isn't allowed...and "chatting" in the For Sale threads isn't allowed either... :(

I guess we just have to put up with "How much is my Buck worth?" threads...It isn't only here, either; *every* Forum I participate in has them..."How much is my Luger worth?"..."How much is my Mauser worth?"..."How much is my cast iron meat grinder worth?"...

Woah now,,,, is the grinder auto or manual?:D

No more need for discussion on deleting or leaving the price. A whole 5 or so pages about that going on over in the G,B, & U forum.
gist over there = personal preference.

Manual of course. ;)

Can you post the link??? GB&U has 568 pages, and I can't Search (Search is down for non-paying/deadbeat members)... :(

I like to close mine so I can make way for those that haven't sold yet.

I prefer to leave the price up for reference, but I will replace the price with SOLD if the buyer so desires. [BTW, the price you see is the price that was paid.]

It's just courtesy.:)

don't really need a link. Just go up to the top here and click on EXCHANGE...

I never knew that...I spent like 10 minutes finding GB&U in the main Forum listing and then using Edit/Find In This Page [browser] to search through the various pages...for the wrong thread, as it turned out, but I got through about 10 pages worth before giving up and asking for the link...

Anyway, I posted my DarrylS retirement on the thread... ;)

Gee, I bet you drive around a lot too.... :D

DarrylS ? I'll go look....

i lock the thread and also delete the price-
why because the buck sale forum dont allow for best offer.. or trades or auctions
many of us will take less cash or trade from a friend then some one we dont know
i have and know others have also..
if i work a deal with some one else i rather see the price deleted..
jest my HO & two centavos
747 . now that is good
