Well, I ordered a brand spanking new Izula today (I mean hell, ya can't have too many of these can ya?) and after I hit the pay button I looked over at my old, well loved, beat to hell, Izula and thought...."What the hell..."
So, after I put my kids to bed I grabbed a rum and Coke (usually I'm a beer freak but this is a special occasion) and proceeded to strip and force patina my old pal. The results?...I love it!!! So drink up fellow ESEE and alcohol lovers, love it or hate it, here it is.

Looks darn good .
You just need to give it that wicked edge back - if it's there I can't see it.

Yep, I threw some of my drink on it and called it a day! :D I actually used Bulls Eye Sweet and Tangy BBQ sauce for the first layer, and then French’s mustard for the tiger stripe effect. And yes, a wicked edge is coming next.

For some reason a good patina will take your edge right off....

Looks good by the way

That looks really good. What method did you use to remove the coating on the knife? I have been thinking about getting one and doing that. I'm kinda lazy though and was wondering if a stripping solvent would work to save myself all the sanding.

I did use spray stripper on the finish on a Condor Hudson Bay and it melted right off but I suspect the finish on an ESEE might be a bit tougher.

The spray stuff works just fine on the ESEE coating.
