Without going into a full blown rant I must say that this Sportsman's Expo sucked the south end of a northbound skunk! There was next to no gear there and what was there was mostly useless "high tech hunter" in the woods survival gear! I had gone in hopes of scoring some Firesteels, mess kits, paracord, you know things that count when in the woods and found nothing worth mentioning!!! In years past I have gone to similar events and bought lot's of cool gear at good prices, I guess those times are gone? It's bad enough I have to live here in CA for the time being but taking away a man's only hope at finding and handling survival gear locally! have they no shame? :grumpy:

Let's see I pay 7.00 for parking, 12.00 to get in and 4.25 for ONE SODA! they might just as well have taken my cash at the entrance kicked me in the stones and bid me good day. Well at least I got to see people in their finest Sunday camouflage, that was good for a laugh.

That was funny.

I will be hauling their asses out of the bush next week, wait for it.

Gun shows are the last remaining group with some usefull gear. Even they are slipping.

HaHa! I went last year, and pretty much had the same experience. The only thing I enjoyed was watching the dogs, and driving the Toyota through the obstacle course.

My wife asked if I wanted to go this year, but I decided it wasn't worth throwing my money away. I'm sorry to hear you had a similar experience.

P.S. Beware of the Gun Show at the Cow Palace too. I think I paid more for parking than I did to enter the show, and then I walked out with nothing, cause there was nothing worth buying, or at least nothing that I couldn't get for the same price or cheaper elsewhere. And all the venders seemed to be idiots, jerks or know-it-alls.

ETA: All right my 555th post, I should go play the lottery or something. LOL, someone's going to read this after I've made a few more posts and be thinking "what the heck? He has 558 posts, not 555?!"

I long ago gave up on shows like this for precisely the reason that they've become a total rip-off. Just like car shows, RV shows, etc. I'd rather shop at the local dealers or online depending on the item.

I think true old school woodsmen are considered an outcast breed for marketing these days. Manufacturers and promoters seem to aim for making the outdoors experience more tech friendly and sterile. Just bring your camo credit card and they'll sell you everything you never needed to enjoy the outdoors. I quit these shows quite awhile back, but for some perverse reason I want to go to the SHOT show someday (even though I hate Las Vegas and crowds).
