I've been so impressed by the generosity of folks in this forum, that I just had to give something back.
This is my first giveaway and I'd like to do something a little different.
First, here's the prize.
It's a Mooremaker Stockman, 3.75" closed, Buffalo Horn, great fit and finish, no blade wiggle, nice walk and talk.
The only negative is that I went a little overboard with the Edge Pro on the clip and sheepsfoot blade.
They are, however, razor sharp.
This is a chunky, hard working knife.
So, here are the rules.
This will be a quick one.
I'll pick the winner tomorrow at noon, random # based on your post number.
What I want from you is the following:
- your most carried slipjoint
- your favorite handle material
- your favorite blade shape
- your main use for that blade

Pix are welcome, but not necessary.
Have fun.

My most carried knife. (for now)

Favorite handle material, is wood, strong preference for ebony.
Favorite blade is the clip-point of course.
Main use is for any and everything, from cutting an apple, to cutting a steak, to trimming fingernails. :D

Thanks for the chance.

-My most carried and favorite knives are the two in the photo above, although the ebony clip has been gaining the most pocket time of the two since I received it. It is also leaning towards being my favorite of the two (probably because of the gabon ebony wood).

-My favorite handle material is wood, and I also have a strong preference for ebony as Mink also stated above

-MY favorite blade is probably the clip blade, although it can be a toss up between the clip and spearpoint blade.

-My Main use for the Clip blade would be as an every day carry blade. It takes care of any slicing and cutting jobs that it can comfortably handle. It could get used for slicing up food, whittling, cutting fabric or string, opening up packages, cleaning my nails (I wash it it before using it with food in this case lol).

Woohoo!

Technically, most carried slipjoint is my Victorinox Rambler.

Favorite handle material: bone.

Blade shape: California clip. For slicing apples.

Kabar stockman, wood, clip point, whittling. I must admit that by whittling I mainly mean sharpening sticks I find :)
That is a cool knife. Thanks for the fantastic giveaway!

this is one of my most carried slip joints and I really like wharncliffe blades. I use wharncliffes for general utility. and whittling. I prefer smooth or jigged bone, stag, or horn.

My most carried slipjoint/non-locking folder is this one:

Old ('50s) Belgian navy clasp knife. I like it because of the ones I have, this one -made in Solingen- has the best building quality/fit and finish. I tend to grab it because it's so sturdy and you can really stomp on it. Furthermore, I like that it was issued by the navy of my country, so there's some territorial link.

The bladeshape I like most is a sheepsfoot blade, because in EDC I just tend to find it very useful for opening packages and so on. The tip really 'grabs' the material, unlike blades with an upswept belly like an Opinel. I'd really like to try out more traditional knives that feature sheepsfoot or wharncliffe blades.

I'm not very knowledgable on handle materials though, and honestly I don't really mind. Molded plastic, bone, wood, delrin, micarta... I don't really mind. I do have a soft spot for micarta though. Can't really say why. I think it just feels nice to the touch, and has somewhat of a 'nostalgic' look if that would exist.

My main use for that Belgian clasp knife is mostly EDC around the house, and as a back-up while backpacking. I find it a bit too heavy and bulky to carry around in town or whatever, but it suits my needs at home just fine. It's pretty much my allround utility blade when I'm at home, next to Opinels. As I said, I use it mainly for opening mail, or boxes when I pack out the groceries and all that. I tend to use it in my backyard for whittling a bit when I'm bored or something. It does come in handy as a back-up while backpacking though. The "pike" on it is very handy to puncture cans. The blade is broad and flat ground so good to smear stuff with on sandwiches and the can-opener works like a charm so... What more could you ask? A bottle opener maybe :D.

Thanks for the chance! Cool GAW

Most carried is my custom J. Oeser large gunstock.

Favorite blade shape is a spear point. With a warn cliff blade in the mix
.
favorite handle material its stag. Though I am really being drawn to ebony.

I use the knife too cut stuff.

But, because I am OCD about carrying knives, there are normally a handful in my pockets. 3-5 is the normal number.

My most carried and favorite knife is the Case mini copperhead. Specifically this one:

I find myself liking wood more and more, with cocobolo and rosewood my favorites as I write this. This whole movement on my part being a result of the Wooden Wednesday thread.

My favorite blade shape has to be the wharncliffe (see above). I use it for trimming material (pull cuts) and opening boxes and mail and it does a good job for most whittling tasks.

I don't have a Moore Maker in my stash, so it would be a welcome addition.

Count me in on this give away, please.

Good Stuff T

Thanks for the chance Lenny, very generous of you. I have always wanted to try out buffalo horn.

I would say my GEC 53 has spent the most time in my pocket.

Gaining quickly with no end in site would be my Eureka Moose Oeser ;)

To say I "like" ebony covers and sheepsfoot blades would be an understatement :D

Thanks for the chance!

My most carried slipjoint is my Victorinox blue alox classic, always clipped to my keyring.
My favorite hande material has to be jigged bone. I get excited, no lie, when I see jigged bone scales worn smooth over many years.
My favorite blade shape is the Kephart style blade.
My main use for the Kephart blade is bushcrafty stuff ;).

My most carried over the last year has been a Case Chestnut bone trapper, though the sheepsfoot is my all time favorite blade shape. I use a stockman with a sheepsfoot when I do anything that needs any level of detail work, wether carving or as a crafting tool.

- your most carried slipjoint.............Northwoods Bullet Jack
- your favorite handle material.........Bone
- your favorite blade shape............Spear
- your main use for that blade..........rope and opening packages with knives in them. :D

Thanks for your generosity.

Wow thanks for the chance! Always liked the looks of Buffalo Horn but haven't had a chance to try it out yet.

- Right now it's my GEC #25 Little Jack
- This is a tough one because I really love a good smooth bone scale but I'm loving this Ebony right now!
- My favorite blade shape is a nice clip blade for sure even though that's not what I've been carrying lately lol.
- I mainly use my blades for cutting open boxes, or cutting a package open, removing stray strands of string on my shirt just normal everyday stuff.

No pictures of it outside yet because it is still the rainy season here so when I'm not at work I'm usually doing something inside with my son. Can't wait for summer to get here!

Not an entry as I currently have a stockman on order. I just wanted to say how much I love the generosity on this forum and wanted to wish everyone good luck!

Fantastic Display of kindness!

My most carried slip joint is my grandfathers black Delrin Case stockman.

Favorite handle material is wood. Usually something really dense like Cocobolo or Ironwood.

My favorite blade is sheepsfoot.
I love to chip carve and whittle.

I feel like I am from the wrong generation and I should have been born 100 years ago!

Thanks so much for the chance.

Most carried: GEC Powderhorn Jack in Ebony
Favorite Material: I yearn for Mammoth Ivory, but any bone will do
Favorite Blade: Clip point. Classic and versatile.
Use: everything. I'll use a secondary for really dirty tasks, but otherwise the clip handles it all.

Thanks for the chance Lenny.
My favorite carry is my Northwoods moose. Favorite scale material is stag, favorite blade is a clip point.
I use that blade for everything that comes up!

Tom

My most carried is the wood handled Otter Andi gifted me. My favorite handle is probably bone or stag, although I've never had a stag knife before, so I may be way off on that. Lol. I like a spear blade shape, or a modified wharncliffe. I think they fit just about perfect for my myriad of general purpose uses.
