Just bought a Military!

I LOVE the military. My favorite is one I have that's the brown sprint run with the CTS-XHP blade steel with a razor sharp mirror edge EXCEPT - the locking side has been replaced with a Titanium framelock side from a Ti Millie. So it's a Ti framelock Military with Earth Brown G10 and CTS-XHP and one of the sharpest edges I've seen. It looks pretty sweet next to my brown Paramilitary 2 sprint

I just REALLY want a fluted Ti Military, but they're never in stock anywhere and when they do become available, they sell out quick. Really want to find one of those for under $300. The used prices just aren't justifiable unless it is discontinued.

I just received a used Millie today from one of our good forum members. :thumbup:Up until now I have put off buying the Military because of it's cost. There are so many great Spydercos for less or way less than $100. Based on it's reputation and cost I was expecting it would shoot sparks or glow for a few seconds when I opened the box. It didn't. I was a little disappointed on the initial inspection, but after I cleaned it up and handled/carried it for a few hours I realized that it was somewhat special compared to my others Spydees. It is long, thin and light (no liners) like I would have expected from a Spyderco Police. I have more than a few value pocket machetes in my collection, and this one is definately the most carry-friendly. The g-10/pocket clip isn't terribly grippy which allows it to slip in and out of my pocket without grabbing onto the fabric. Althought the G-10 is not too grippy and the jimping isn't too sharp, it doesn't need to be. The large handle with index and pinky indentations keeps it very secure in hand.
It's more formidable than the Para 2, but not a bulging beast like the Manix Xl or the Resilence. The big thumbhole is nice and the blade flys out of the handle.
I think the military has just pushed it's way to the head of the line in my self-defense carry rotation.:D
Off topic question: What is it's birth date?? C36GPE-DH. Thanks for any info.

April, 2008.

It does have liners, but they are nested within the scales.

Updated with picture :)

it has partial liners, they don't extend the entire length of the handle, which is why its so light and doesn't offer tip up carry. I think its perfect just the way it is, I prefer not to have extra holes all over the scales.

A.Dragg could you post pics of your franken millie? It sounds pretty cool and I might have to try that out with one of my carbon fiber m390s.

How do you know the birthdate?

Spyderco uses a two-letter code that is on the box. For example I have a gayle bradley box with the letter code "AJ." This means the knife was made in January of 2010.

The Military is my favorite Spyderco and most used EDC.
I have the CF/ M390 and a digi camo/black s30v, but the S30v gets all the pocket time.
The ergonomics, size, weight, and blade profile all combine to make the perfect knife.
Congrats on discovering the Millie!

I just ordered one for myself this morning. Been wanting one for a while and I saw a deal I couldn't pass up. Now I just have to wait on those boys in brown.

The code Spyderco uses for date of manf. is: Month starting with a= Jan., B= Feb...... The year starting with A = 2000, B= 2001 and on to the current year which is 2012= L.

How do you know the birthdate?

My Paras also have an Numerical Month/Year on the blade tang covered up by the scales, I would assume the newer Millies have that alsso ?
