Just got my new glock 78 knife today had an 81 (sawback) a long while back and loved the knife just didn't like the saw just got the new 78 in black and it's just got that amazing military indestructible feel it's fit and finish are perfect, it's razor sharp literally paper cutting out of the box and incredibly stabby

Did buy it for work but i think il keep carrying my old beater knife as don't want to mess up the perfect finish on this blade so will be being kept handy in house as an 'emergency' knife

Plus it cost me £20 delivered from ukmc pro as had a few money off points

Does any one else like these knives? Like a plastic fantastic ka bar but bred with a pry bar

I had a 81 series for a while and was very happy with it. I used the saw only once just to try it.

I passed the knife on to a neighbor and now have a Benchmade 162 in place of the Glock. The BM has seen much more use than the Glock ever did.

Wait... huh? you bought a Glock knife... which has "that amazing military indestructible feel" but won't use it for fear of harming the finish? It's not like you bought a collectible or custom to preserve as an heirloom piece. You bought a very standard, off the shelf, working knife that is very tough. The whole reason they make it tough is so that it can be used rough... so go put that sucker to good use! What in the world are you preserving it for?

I've talked myself out of a Glock more than once, but I might grab some day. I am surprised to hear that it was so sharp. The reports that I have read were that they couldn't slice warm butter. Jeez, Now I am thinking about one again, lol. Oh well, another toy.

It's a sturdy tool which can also be thrown.
And supposedly moulded with the same
legendary Glock pistol thermoplastic.
It's also entirely idiot proof.
But some might fumble through with the locking catch
With two hands instead of one...
A plain carbon steel blade
Requires some form of rust inhibitor.
So use with care.
Anything to avoid having to undergo possible tetanus shots
On the account of a rusty Glock edge.
It's after all a combat knife bayonet first.

I just love the shiny black finish on this one my old 81 was matte black and not great also the factory edge did need a regrind on old 81 as was a pain to sharpen but this one appears like the edge grind is a little narrower maybe adjusted the design to make them easier to sharpen

And mine came coated in grease but I oil all my blades anyway

The saw on the old 81 I had was good for sawing but when using the knife in confined spaces to cut out insulation etc the saw constantly got full of it and had to pick it out or became caught on lagging etc which was a pain as almost lost that knife a few times

Bought one on VD drive off Fort Benning more than 30 years ago. Carried in a ruck for 20 years after that. Travelled all over Asia and the Pacific with it. Did all I needed it to do.

Cost has only gone up a few dollars in all that time so I'd not worry about the finish. They are inexpensive and not collectable.

Got the model 78 (no saw) with a tan handle. sheath is very simple but does its job, the handle size is a good fit, maybe a smidge bigger than what Ii'd like but at least it's not too small which would be bad.

Definitely a field tool meant for hard use and not ideal for bushcraft. I can see this being used to pry things out of the dirt or even digging.

Knew not using it wouldn't last long, did some diy with it today cut some extra room out of plasterboard for new stainless steel sockets and switches did the job brilliantly being quite narrow then came back to a razor edge easily

Very impressed the new shiny finish is quite tough aswell seems unmarked and yeah my old 81 had like a painted on uneven and almost stained in places finish but most rubbed off leaving a well used well loved looking patina like a beware the guy who only has one gun kind of look lol
