I ran into a family friend while buying a chunk of metal from the scrap yard
I found a 350lb chunk of square and solid I bought it and took it home
for 100 dollars
now my friend took me he knew a old timer, tin basher who wanted to sell his shop
so i called the number went down there
this guy has a new 16 speed drill press
A 250 lb anvil (or near that weight)
it has no markings I dont have a ball bearing to drop on it but its fairly old
i hit it with a hammer it bouced lol (good testing eh? lol)
the face is mint pretty much I think its cast steel though
I didnt flip the anvil over though maybe on the bottom it will have something?
hopefully its not cast iron
He has a good mig welder with gas and a oxy acetelene torch
all the bottles are owned not rented
he is going to give me sheets of metal along with it all
and all his dollys and jigs and a mini break
a good solid vice and another solid vice that is designed to bend metal
and all of his odds and ends which probley add up to alot
I gave him a 200 dollar deposit he wants 800 total
I hope this anvil is good lol its the main reason im buying all this,
and because I know I need a mig welder and oxy torch too
I JUST bought a drill press for the second time lol
i returned the last one too hahaha
this one is also going back so I can buy all this,
same with this giant chunk of metal lol
I really should take some pictures of the stuff this guy made though he was a real metal artist
he did a 3d portrait of himself with tin
as well as this Egg with a fist shoved though it with money in its hand
with greed engraved at the bottom
he also made armour helmets for movies all with the tools he is selling to me.
I pretty much ran down there from my house once I heard about it
looks like my shop is growing rapidly hahaha im pretty happy
I really just want to finish my forge so i can at least start heat treating again
but i need the welder for that,
I got rid of my coal sink with a hairdryer after highschool
I have all this stuff rough ground now and unfinished lol
