I ran into a family friend while buying a chunk of metal from the scrap yard
I found a 350lb chunk of square and solid I bought it and took it home

for 100 dollars

now my friend took me he knew a old timer, tin basher who wanted to sell his shop

so i called the number went down there

this guy has a new 16 speed drill press

A 250 lb anvil (or near that weight)

it has no markings I dont have a ball bearing to drop on it but its fairly old
i hit it with a hammer it bouced lol (good testing eh? lol)
the face is mint pretty much I think its cast steel though

I didnt flip the anvil over though maybe on the bottom it will have something?
hopefully its not cast iron

He has a good mig welder with gas and a oxy acetelene torch
all the bottles are owned not rented

he is going to give me sheets of metal along with it all

and all his dollys and jigs and a mini break
a good solid vice and another solid vice that is designed to bend metal

and all of his odds and ends which probley add up to alot

I gave him a 200 dollar deposit he wants 800 total

I hope this anvil is good lol its the main reason im buying all this,
and because I know I need a mig welder and oxy torch too
I JUST bought a drill press for the second time lol
i returned the last one too hahaha

this one is also going back so I can buy all this,
same with this giant chunk of metal lol

I really should take some pictures of the stuff this guy made though he was a real metal artist

he did a 3d portrait of himself with tin
as well as this Egg with a fist shoved though it with money in its hand
with greed engraved at the bottom
he also made armour helmets for movies all with the tools he is selling to me.

I pretty much ran down there from my house once I heard about it

looks like my shop is growing rapidly hahaha im pretty happy

I really just want to finish my forge so i can at least start heat treating again
but i need the welder for that,

I got rid of my coal sink with a hairdryer after highschool
I have all this stuff rough ground now and unfinished lol

This post is worthless without pics!:D Cool find, between the anvil and mig it's worth what you paid, the rest is like iceing on the cake.

yeah I will be posting some pictures once i manage to drag it all home,

I will try to rember to grab some pictures of his work as well it was pretty cool
he managed to make two bass out of metal and they look real i can assure you they look real or real enough to me,
he said he is willing to teach me somethings too

imagine making a sword and the armour to match? hehe that would be a rare sight at least for one person to do it all.
I would start small and make a few tin sheaths first though

Where are all those great finds near me?? I am happy for you my friend, God takes care of us in one way or another.

You might be asking him if he will give you pointers and help you along also...

Great score.

Oh I plan on it, I want to get as many metal skills as humanly possible

I probley will never become the world greatest knifemaker or even touch the top ten,

but to me if i can do Casting, Tinwork, machining, knifemaking, make damascus, do black smithing, work on guns, do woodwork, continue branching out learning, adding skills I know I will be able to make anything the way I want.

everything will come together one day and I will produce something truely great,

too bad you are not closer i would love to trade you for that big square block you got, can you get a picture of it please?

I will later its in the back of the explorer lol
and its not here right now

My method of getting out was going to be stick a long piece of round stock though the eyelet (which luckly it has)

then me on one end and my brother on the other lol

I dont know I still might keep it but my credit card wont like it too much lol
it would be good for REALLY heavy forging

I will ship it if you want it, but from canada to the states the price would be evil
it really wouldnt be worth it for you you could probley find yourself something just as good local
