Just bought my first 110

The 110 is a great knife. I have acquired a few as well as two custom shop 110s and they are very nice knives. Enjoy your new 110.

That was my first Buck 110 too. Got it about 2 months ago on sale at Cabela's. Always feels good to carry. There's just something about that CLACK when it opens.

Buck 110 is "THE KNIFE" if you wan't a USA made blade in the $40 range IMO.....I also have the 50th anniversary 110, it just looks so cool with the 50th medallion.

Agreed. I was wavering until I saw the shield. That's what did it for me.

Have two and a few immitations. It is a good knife and a bit of a classic considering they have been made for 50 years now. Every farm and ranch hand got one. I used a similar knife for years as my work knife and for deer hunting chores. Frankly at that time in my life, I stayed away from Buck because their blades were so hard to sharpen.

It's hard not to love the Buck 110. I own one and I desperately want another. Or two. Or three...

I was checking them out the other day at a sporting goods store, and I must say, I was a bit ticked and pleased to see the standard 110 that comes with the leather sheath. I bought mine a couple years back and it came with the nylon one. Is the leather sheath standard again, or did I just stumble upon an old one?

The one I just bought has a beautiful black leather sheath.

That got started because most folks used Arkansas stones and these had difficulties cutting Buck's early steel. Use a crystalline or Norton India stone and you'll have very different results.

That's exactly correct. I used Arkansas stones then. Times have changed, but back then, the only sharpening stone I had or wanted were Arkansas stones. None of you folks need to tell me how to sharpen a Buck 110. This is part of my history and does not reflect present day experience.

Mouse pads didn't exist then. :D
