Just bought My first Fenix

All of this new terminology in regards to AA cell technology for me. Rechargables seem like a liability over time so far of what I am reading.

Ive got a Fenix TK10 right now and like it. After reading a little on E2DL's though I think it may be more of the light for me, thinner, longer run time in high out put, which is actually a little brighter on the spot, just the TK10 has more flood. But, im also thinking of a PD30.
These are from CPF forums, from a member named "The Sun" he does some awesome reviews over there.

Great choice on the Fenix

I carry a LD20 (w/ a L0D backup) and I absolutely love the thing. The improvements they made are awesome.

I highly suggest anyone thinking about picking up a LD#0, that they get the LD20 and also get the L1D body swap, so you switch between an LD20 and a LD10.

Well until I order some Eneloops, I purchased a 4 pack of Energizer AA "ultimate lithium" batteries so I can at least use my new light. I will see how well they work.

what does this do?

You can remove the body (center section where batteries are stored) in the L2d (or LD20) and replace it with the L1D body (~12$) which lets you run the L2D with 1 AA instead of 2.

I just got my first fenix too, a P1D, and I'm super impressed (as are my brothers, friends, even girlfriend, which is scary).

I'm new to the flashlight game, though. The other day I dropped it about five feet onto pavement. Nothing was wrong, still lights up, I can't even find a mark, but it did lead me to wonder: how much abuse can they take?

Not that I'm looking to really push the limits, I'm just curious.

Has anyone bought a TK11 R2? How's the performance?

R2 is only 15 lumens brighter that the original TK11. The difference is noticeable and the price difference is minor so if you're buying for the first time I'd go R2 for sure. Would I run out and buy one if I already have a TK11, probably not. Interestingly though besides the output change there is a huge difference in color temperature. The R2 is a little bit warmer and not quite as blue as the original.

Also for anyone considering a Fenix over and E2DL I can say I've compared both of them and the E2DL has to be performing better than what Surefire calls 120 Lumens. The E2DL is just as bright as a PD30 but obviously without the cool strobe feature. Imagine strobing a guy in the face with an E2D and then using the strike bezel while he's distracted.

One thing I have to say with the TK11 though is that the width and depth of the reflector really is quite nice. Compared to some of Surefire's LED's the TK11 really does through the distance at night. That is the one downfall I find with my E2D is that the light does seem to fall of quickly.

Bottom line on Fenix though is that you really can't beat the price for the output you get.

Thats more less what I've heard, I know with the TK11, if you own a tk10, and are looking for the through, the tk11 with the R2 will give you more through, just because of the non orange peal reflector.

I have to get an E2DL.:D

The regular TK11 comes in standard (non Orangepeel) reflector too.

No texture on mine!

I have been carrying a Fenix L1T and L2T for years now. The L1T is in my shirt pocket constantly. I use it many times a day looking at things in the assemblies I work with. I usually only use the low on the L1T as I am shining it on metal surfaces to find ident. numbers and low is all that is needed.
I love these lights. I replaced the switches recently with forward clickie switches and love the lights even more now.
I also have a TK-11 that I use with the 18650 lithium rechargables. WOW!!! What a kick butt light. It replaced my old Surefire 9P as my light to check out the bump in the night sounds. It makes the 9P seem pale and dim.
Yep, I do like my Fenix lights.

I'm completely impressed with my E2L, and I have the 5/65lm version. My only complaint, though, would be the low/high split. With how little spill the TIR provides, I'd like a little lower low and a little higher high. The rated 5lm low is WAY understated- its brighter than a minimag with fresh batts... But then again, if it can actually get the rated 100hrs runtime, then does it really matter??

I got myself the P3D Q5 XRE to clip to my helmet when I Packraft through tunnels, and its a Light Sabre!

The light output is simply incredible and build quality is superb, I love it! :D
