Just bought my first strider. Is it fake?

Looks real but it doesnt appear rare or new as listed. It looks like a regular tanto sng with stripped blade and flamed ti. The g10 looks dirty, the pivot and clip show wear and the blade appears to have spots on it(maybe rust?)

These questions are better done before you buy.

I'm hard on knives and loved the look of this one. I just got a little scared buying from ebay. He said it wasn't rust just a little dirty. I made them pay overnight shipping so I will know for sure on Tuesday. Most of the time I buy ZT or ESEE so I figured if I were going to pay this much for a knife it better be one I really liked.

man that sucks. nothing worse than paying over retail for a used knife. Gotta do the research.

If you can return it for a refund I would do that and purchase a new one from a reputable dealer

Well the seller isn't responding now that he has his money. I like the knife. I guess I should have researched it more. Live and learn. I'm sure this wont be my first Strider.

Did you mean "I'm sure this wont be my LAST Strider."?

At least it does look like a real one. I think you are going to find that the spots on the blade are actually rust. It looks like a bead blasted finish, which is very prone to discoloration (the finish is more porous). It also makes it harder to get the discoloration off without smoothing out the bead blasted finish.

If you are making it a user I would not be too concerned about the used condition.

What would be a bit more concerning is the late lock up. Hopefully it is solid.

Its a genuine Strider but it ain't MARSOC nothin, just a bog standard SnG. Front edge looks like its been reprofiled. I wouldn't have paid more than $250 for it. This forum and USN are the best place to buy used Striders IMO.

I can't tell if it has but if so the buyer should be able to get his money back. It was listed as stock, unused IIRC. I'd really look into that if I was the OP. One can buy a brand new SNG in PD1 for $400. A SMF or S110V steel model for $475 new w/free delivery.

I would honestly go about getting your money back since it wasnt a truthful description.

I am in the process of doing that now. At first I was like live and learn but the more I think about it the more it eats at me. If it were described accurately it probably wouldn't have been a big deal.
