Just can't enjoy a PM2

Speaking of PM2's, I was wondering today if anyone has compiled a list of all the different variations (LE's & sprints) as well as who sold them and how much the original cost at release was. Has anyone ever come across (or created :) ) something like this?

Spydiewiki has the list.

Virtually any folding knife can be made to have some side to side blade movement if the blade is torqued side to side with enough force. That being said, under normal conditions, a knife should not have blade play when open. Period. Side to side, front to back, whatever. None. If it does have obvious blade play when new, it's defective. Return it. Immediately.

(I only own one PM2. No blade play at all. Blade opens smoothly and drops free from open position when the lock is released.)

So I took your guys advice and tightened the pivot first then snugged down the rest of the screws and the knife is definitely better. Still has a little side to side but I think after I get some nano oil it should do the trick

I think what some consider play, is different from person to person. If one person says all 4 of theirs have had some play, and the next says none of their 4 had any....something isn't right there and I imagine the 8 knives were actually more similar then suggested. I have OCD when it comes to play. I've had two, and they both have some side to side movement. After playing with them for hours (adjusting each screw, i mean each screw..I got them to where I wanted, with absolutely no play. Yes, the knife will not be as smooth, but with basic use, and maybe the help of some nano oil, they were eventually fairly free swinging/smooth with NO play.

I just pulled my camo/red (rit dye) PM2 out of my pocket and checked it. I can't detect any blade play and the blade will drop closed when I press the lock.

I bought this knife used and have not adjusted it or lubricated it. And actually I put the whole knife in boiling water with rit dye when I colored the scales. I wasn't sure what this would do to the lube but it didn't seem to affect it any.

I have a brown PM2, almost new, with not blade play and very little friction. I have a green one in my EDC rotation that has a lot of friction. I have not tried adjusting it.

I've mentioned this before, but both of the new Paramilitary 2's that I have purchased (about a year apart) were adjusted way too tight from the factory, so that the compression lock would not open or close the blade on its own more than a fraction. On the first, I believed the knife to be defective because no amount of loosening the pivot screw would free up the compression lock action. (Unhappy experience contacting SpyderCo warranty about this issue followed, which I won't repeat again...). I did some searching and found that it is necessary to loosen the stop pin screws and rotate the stop pin spacer (WHY this has an affect I honestly don't understand). But you have adjust both the pivot screw torque and the stop pin torque/stop pin spacer rotation until you find the spot where the blade will open freely with little to no blade play (and use Locktite 243 sparingly on both sets of screws so they won't loosen once you have them where you want them... and I say SPARINGLY because I apparently used too much at first on my second PM2, which would just not open well... I disassembled it again and found the Locktite had worked its way around the pivot bushings... NOT ideal for blade smoothness, obviously!).

I'll just say again that, although the PM2 is my favorite knife, I don't believe a knife at this price point should require so much adjustment as it comes from the factory, to get it opening/closing the way it SHOULD.

Most blades yes, Spyderco Tuff no.
I have to really try to get some play with the green PM2 I have but that really would not be how I use the knife
