Just couldn't resist temptation any longer....

I <3 my Esees. I have 2x 3s(One clip point, 1 non), a 4, an Izula, and a LaserStrike.

I <3 my Beckers more though.

Dubz, I can almost guarantee the LS will fit your hands. The handle on it is pretty huge for real.

My favourite small knife is the Izula II - I also have an Izula, but the handle is just too short. That's what prevents me from getting a BK-14.

Doc

Great thread. Great pics. Seeing the 14 next to the esee-3 makes me realize that it is necessary for me to buy a 14...and buy it right now.

when I got the izula 2, I sold off my esee 3.
when I for the BK16, I sold off my esee 4.
not selling off my esee 6 - I love the way it fits my hand and the balance is perfect for me.
similarly, i love the Ontario TAK -- if it didn't have a choil it'd be darn near perfect.
Candiru is way too short.
when chopping, the Junglas fits my hand better than the BK9, but the BK5, 10, & 12 all work well for GP cutting/carving duty.
I'm seriously considering doing the TMHunt handle mod to my 5 & 10LE (I already made it a rampless drop point).

Actually I think that one might be perfect for you, extended handle forward with the choil. There is quite a bit of room on it, extra inch to inch and a half over a tweener to grab on to.

.

Have had that one on my radar for a bit, but am afraid it'll be too small for my hand.

great thread. ESEE and Becker, my two favorite knife companies. Thanks for sharing, i really enjoyed lookin through some of yalls collections. Golly Sky, thats a good lookin ESEE collection hehe

Thank ya'll for sharing your Becker / ESEE experiences and Photos!

I don't feel so bad now for stepping into ESEE territory. haha

Ive got a few :D

Thanks for sharing Psyop!! I really want a Junglas and the 6 would be next after that for sure!!

You know what sucks about Esee? They are just like Beckers, You let one in the house and they run straight to your checkbook and invite all their friends over to stay.

You know what Sky? I think you are totally right about that.

This is a bad bad addiction.

And to be honest, I don't want all of them... I NEED ALL OF THEM!!! :D

Very nice collection you have there!
And I was feeling special with my one Izula. HAHA
All you need is that Damascus one and new stainless one to complete the set! Thats Awesome!

I bought an Esee-3 a couple of months ago. It fits in the perfect size envelope for an EDC blade, and sadly there are no Beckers in the 3 1/2" blade/4" handle category. The flat scales are great for carrying around town, but are too narrow for extended use, at least for my hand. My hand cramps up if I try to do too much bushcrafting with it. But since I bought it for carrying more than using, it not too big a problem.

I hated the choil at first, but I think it's growing on me. Esee should do some runs of their knives without the choil. I'd bet they'd sell them all.

Overall, I'm thrilled with the Esee-3. There are only three other Esee designs that I want--the Izula 2, the Junglas, and that new choil-less collaboration knife(the name escapes me). Thank goodness for that. A man could spend a lot of cash getting the whole Esee collection.

Nice Picture!!
I havent held the 3 yet but will probably end up getting it one day cause it does seem like a good EDC knife.
And yea the choil is really growing on me to!
Thanks for sharing you experience.

HaHa! I don't know if I could part with any of my knives unless I just hated it. I get to attached.. It would be a good idea for me to thin out my collection but Every time I sell something, I end up regretting it later on.

The Junglas and ESEE 6 are really tempting!! Guess I'll put them on the list for 2013.

And what's the TMHunt Handle mod? Guess I'll have to do some searching.
Also, Do you have a picture of your modded 10? That sounds similar to what I'm thinking about doing as soon as I get my hands on one!
Thanks

They look like awesome blades. I've been wanting an RC-3 for a while. I'd totally EDC that sucker.

Some thoughts.....

So after using my new knives a little this weekend, They are really starting to grow on me.
My Beckers are still my favorite, but ESEE is not far behind.

Lets start with the ESEE 4.
First impressions: I was not jumping over the moon but I did like it. After fondling her and cutting stuff up over the past couple of days, I like it a lot more!
I think I'll find a good place for her in my life.

The choil is something that I am starting to really like. I feel a little better about the shape of the handle now that I've put a lanyard on. Don't have to worry about it flying out of my hand.

The knot right behind tang really gives me a better sense of control.

And on a side note: The looks of this knife are just downright tough. Don't mess with this thing!

Here is a pic of my un-modded BK16 with micarta handles and the ESEE 4 side-by-side.

These two are very similar in many ways. Guess It all comes down to personal preference.
I can hold the Becker comfortably in many different hand positions where as the ESEE being flat and all only feels good when holding flat in the hand either up or down.

Gonna try and EDC her for a bit scout style cause the knife and sheath are very slim. That is a plus for the flat handles.

Next up: The Izula...
Well what is there to say? The handle is great, cause if it wasn't it would not be on the BK14, Right?
Sheath is nice as well but I'm eventually gonna upgrade to kydex.
The Blade is smaller than what I'm used to with the BK11 (or 14) But I think it works out great. Great as a neck knife since its a little smaller than the other two.
Also the blade shape is perfect for its size. Very nice curvature!

Probably won't stop carrying my BK11 everyday cause I've come to depend on that blade, know how it operates, it's never let me down, and it can open my beers with ease,
But I'm probably gonna neck carry the Izula under my shirt cause two blades are always better that one!

Last: The little Candiru....

Now I am deeply impressed with this blade. It is a little small for a lot of peoples hand but It fits me just right.
I didn't think it would be my favorite ESEE so far but it is. I just really like using this knife. The micarta handles make a huge difference in the comfort and feel of this knife.
I really don't know why I like this knife so much? Let's just say It's a fun little knife to use!! And the picture of the fish is just awesome! haha

Now compared to my Remora:

Very similar in size, but way different knives.
Maybe because of the handles and blade shape? I will have to make some handles for my remora to do a complete comparison.
I use my remora often and love the size of it. Usually just throw it in my pocket even if I'm carrying another knife cause it's great for small tasks.
I feel as if the Candiru would be better at carving wood and stuff like just because it feels better in the hand and blade shape is one big curve. (well it's not big, just continuous)
I am thinking of doing a little mod to add a small lanyard to it? Not sure yet. I just have really become used lanyards on my knives.

I see the Candiru parring perfectly with my BK12 or BK2 as a two knife combo.
Maybe the Izula with my BK9 or my BK4?

How many of you pair you ESEE's with your Beckers? And which combo?

I was thinking with the choil, the Laser Strike would fit my hand. I wouldn't mind getting a 6. Have always admired that blade.

So far I have the Candiru and 3P. Oh, and the ESEE Becker kitchen knives, of course. The 3 is honestly one of my favorite knives from any maker. I plan on getting the 6 and Junglas this year, as well. When I handled the 6 that my friend has, it sold me on trying out ESEE.

Have had that one on my radar for a bit, but am afraid it'll be too small for my hand.

your radar averted the laser strike. Sorry I just had to...

I have a candiru and love it. Fits in my pocket better then the BK14.

Damn I saw the esee 3 compared to the bk14 and went online and bought a 14...now I see the esee 4 compared to the bk16 and I feel I NEED a 16...this thread costs a fortune...
