Some thoughts.....
So after using my new knives a little this weekend, They are really starting to grow on me.
My Beckers are still my favorite, but ESEE is not far behind.
Lets start with the ESEE 4.
First impressions: I was not jumping over the moon but I did like it. After fondling her and cutting stuff up over the past couple of days, I like it a lot more!
I think I'll find a good place for her in my life.
The choil is something that I am starting to really like. I feel a little better about the shape of the handle now that I've put a lanyard on. Don't have to worry about it flying out of my hand.
The knot right behind tang really gives me a better sense of control.
And on a side note: The looks of this knife are just downright tough. Don't mess with this thing!
Here is a pic of my un-modded BK16 with micarta handles and the ESEE 4 side-by-side.
These two are very similar in many ways. Guess It all comes down to personal preference.
I can hold the Becker comfortably in many different hand positions where as the ESEE being flat and all only feels good when holding flat in the hand either up or down.
Gonna try and EDC her for a bit scout style cause the knife and sheath are very slim. That is a plus for the flat handles.
Next up: The Izula...
Well what is there to say? The handle is great, cause if it wasn't it would not be on the BK14, Right?
Sheath is nice as well but I'm eventually gonna upgrade to kydex.
The Blade is smaller than what I'm used to with the BK11 (or 14) But I think it works out great. Great as a neck knife since its a little smaller than the other two.
Also the blade shape is perfect for its size. Very nice curvature!
Probably won't stop carrying my BK11 everyday cause I've come to depend on that blade, know how it operates, it's never let me down, and it can open my beers with ease,
But I'm probably gonna neck carry the Izula under my shirt cause two blades are always better that one!
Last: The little Candiru....
Now I am deeply impressed with this blade. It is a little small for a lot of peoples hand but It fits me just right.
I didn't think it would be my favorite ESEE so far but it is. I just really like using this knife. The micarta handles make a huge difference in the comfort and feel of this knife.
I really don't know why I like this knife so much? Let's just say It's a fun little knife to use!! And the picture of the fish is just awesome! haha
Now compared to my Remora:
Very similar in size, but way different knives.
Maybe because of the handles and blade shape? I will have to make some handles for my remora to do a complete comparison.
I use my remora often and love the size of it. Usually just throw it in my pocket even if I'm carrying another knife cause it's great for small tasks.
I feel as if the Candiru would be better at carving wood and stuff like just because it feels better in the hand and blade shape is one big curve. (well it's not big, just continuous)
I am thinking of doing a little mod to add a small lanyard to it? Not sure yet. I just have really become used lanyards on my knives.
I see the Candiru parring perfectly with my BK12 or BK2 as a two knife combo.
Maybe the Izula with my BK9 or my BK4?
How many of you pair you ESEE's with your Beckers? And which combo?
