Just curious, where does the ESEE logo come from?

The knives I get it, but the skull?

Is it only because it's badass training? Or does it have a more traditional or spiritual signification in South America (like El Día de los Muertos)?

If I'm to have a patch and the logo on my knives, I should at least know what it means. :D

Ah great, he's one of those guys. I bet you asked your parents "WHY?", about everything huh? JK man, good question I am interested to hear too!

I hear if you mix it with wood bleach as well it will get rid of any stain! Breath like a swimming pool, minus the piss, I hope!

Of all the skull logos (thousands upon thousands...) I'm glad it's not a goofy fanged mean skull cartoon type thing...the ESEE skull looks like something from the 1940's or 50's...not some gay skateboard illustration skull..

Pretty sure it's just a logo with no significant philosophical meaning behind it.

I think the skull comes from some of the anti-cartel forces Jeff and Mike have trained with in South America. It's like a badass, special-ops thing. SEALS have the frogman, Green Berets have a skull, SAS have a winged-sword, etc.

I must be confused then, how many logos have there been? 1) The RAT triangle w/ knife, 2) The ESEE logo Skull and crossed knives, and the newest on.. never mind I think I just figured it out.

The Skull logo is there new cutlery line logo and they have a new Company logo as well, alright this all makes more sense now.

I'm really not that dumb in real life I swear! lol

Would the skull be a symbol of survival or maybe a symbolic reminder of the consequences of not surviving?

You have to look at the totality of the circumstances. Consider first the two crossed knives in the background. From the blade shape and glass breaker pommel, it's apparent that they are RC-5's (Now ESEE-5's). These are exceptionally strong, hard-use knives designed to laugh in the face of the worst abuse you can throw at them. They're the Chuck Norris of production knives. And there's TWO of them!

Then there's the skull. That's you (not you in a personal sense, don't get offended).

The take away message is that while RAT knives will survive anything, you're f'ed.

Traditionaly the skull means "this is what happens if you don't train well and learn it", ie, death. Someone said well it should be something looking over you so the logo should be an angel. To which Jeff replied if you are seeing an angel then you f**ked up.:) So we stick with the traditional skull as is used a lot in military circles to signify death for those that don't do well. :) Mike
