...........to see what's going on at CRK. Even though I no longer have any of my Sebbies I still think the Sebenza is one of the best knives made. As far as production knives go it is the top dog, and where customs are concerned it more than holds its own against many of them.

Of late I've gotten interested in certain custom tactical folders by J.W. Smith, Kit Carson, and Mike Obenauf. All three make a framelock that is as good as anything I've seen, but the Sebenza ranks right up there with them. Not a step behind but equal to the customs. That's not a "hit" towards these custom makers, rather it just tells you how good the Sebenza really is.

I've got a heavy duty large model 2 framelock by Mike Obenauf and it has come the closest to the sebenza in lockup and action. I have two J.W. Smith framelocks coming in next week so we'll see how they work out.

Just been reading this month's Sebenza bash and wanted to come over to check out things!

Art:
I have a small model 2 frame lock due from Mike in a couple weeks. Is the handle contured? Is it tip up or tip down? Was the knife really, really sharp out of the box?

Hi Scott. The Obenauf I got was a special order that I had made thicker than he usually does. The Scales were around .150" thick instead of .125. What he did was contour grind the handles so that they slant down at the top and at the bottom while the middle has a flat surface and retains the full .150" thickness. On the standard model, and I just sold one, the handles are flat but rounded at the edges. Either way looks great! The clip is set for tip down carry and is at the top of the handle so you get most of the knife concealed within the pocket. Sharp? Do you need to split some hair? If so just wait until your Obenauf model 2 gets there! Then you'll be splitting hair!

Post some pics and a review after you get it.

Hey, Art, good to see you. Set a spell, take your shoes off...y'all come back now, y'hear!
