I like the handle shape...just how comfortable is it? That thing is one brute of a knife! Great job  .

Great looking mid-sized chopper and I'd imagine the flat spine would take well to battoning as well !!!!

Nice work.

If you're looking for a bit of feedback, I have two thoughts that might be useful for future projects along the same lines:

First, while the blade shape and general design suggest that this would be a great chopper, the handle could do with being a bit more rounded-off around the edges. This would help to minimize 'hot spots'.

Second, in my experience, thumb serrations are most useful when the spine of the knife is in-line with the back of the handle. This way, the user does not have to reach over or past a protruding guard to make use of the serrations.

Just my $ 0.02 CDN.

Again, nice work!

All the best,

- Mike

I prefer a more of a squared handle as opposed to the round. I can get a hold of it better. That’s just my limited opinion. As far as comfort, I honestly think it feels just fine in my hand; but then again, I haven’t chopped with it for 3 hours. However, chopping a branch here and there or chopping a carps head off etc.. you wouldn’t have any problems. Thanks for the good words. Chris

That's one mean-looking chopper. Very cool. Yeah, I'd lose the top guard. That would allow for more grip choices. Also, the holes in the blade, are they for weight considerations? I wonder if they might get gummed up after extensive use, especially on pitch pine or punky wood.

Got any pics of the knife in use?

The holes were just to give it style. I think the more weight the better, on a chopper knife. Ya, maybe a little lower on the guard would be easier to get your thumb out there. As far as gumming up the holes, I don’t really know. I’ve never hacked up a sap tree with it before. Just small branches and sticks. Goes right through it.

I like the holes in the blade, it almost makes the knife look like it was forged out of a peice of steel that used elsewhere. Very cool.

I'd imagine I could find a use for those holes as well. I just plain like the holes on this knife.

You've got some cool designs - I like the Rambo version of this blade that you make.

Myright,
Thanks for the words of encouragement. I’m still fairly new at this so it’s nice to hear that sometimes. Some people don’t particularly like my wild styles, but I’m gonna keep on trucking. Don’t get me wrong, though, I also am open for suggestions and criticism. If you think you know everything and are not open to suggestions, you’ll never succeed. By the way, I’ll have a couple more new ones tomorrow to see what you all think. A survivalist knife another something else I made up.
