First off, I want to make it clear that I'm not looking to step on any toes here. I am a brand new member to The Porch and I don't want to overstep my position.

That said, I've been following the 2018 Traditional Knife thread and it seems like we're dancing around who we want to make the knives this year, if anyone at all, and I thought it might be fun to see which way we all lean as a whole!

If this is out of line please feel free to let me know ;)

Honestly, I would just like a forum knife in general. I think it is a nice tradition and the selection process can be fun if we let it. So regardless of who makes it, who organizes it, and who ultimately decides what, I would love to see it all happen without the players getting unnecessarily chastened. Those that bear this burden endure a lot from us and I think it would go a long way if we all remain mindful of the work that goes into these endeavors.

We all have our likes and dislikes, and god knows we all have opinions, but I am certain that our mutual enthusiasm for knives can make this process fun and rewarding. But only if we allow it to be...

Karl,
My opinion is just that, my opinion and doesn't count for too much, but your poll seems fine to me.

I voted for something else.
Ive never bought a forum knife, but if the forum knife was a brown jigged delrin case slimline trapper with a CV blade I would sure want one.

I voted for "I Don't Care As Long As We Get One," but right now I am actually leaning more toward wanting a Buck knife. Of course, if the 46 came up as an option, that would be all out the window. My kingdom for a Bladeforums Whaler!!! Beyond that, none of the other GEC options appeal to me that strongly. But most of all, I just hope we get a knife this year.

I would enjoy seeing a Buck forum knife. Maybe a 501, or a 55. Something that we could all carry every day without being too cumbersome. Plus, it is hard to beat the Buck lifetime warranty.

That said, I am also a fan of several different brands mentioned. I respect everyone’s decision, and look forward to the input of others.

I voted for Buck. 301, 303 or, how about a USA made Buck trapper. Either the normal configuration or similar to the millenium trapper(although I would prefer it in a smaller, mini frame). It would be nice to have a BF forum knife constructed by a company with the rich history of Buck.

I don't care who makes it I just hope one is made. If I like it, I'll buy it. If not, C'est la vie.

I selected Buck, but really don't have a preference. It would be interesting to see if they'd do one in their 700 series.

I’ve never had a buck for myself (realized earlier that my son has one) and I really like GEC, but as a new member of the porch I’m just excited to get in on the tradition and keep it going, so I voted for whatever we can make happen.

I’m with Buzz. Better stainless in a stockman pattern.... I voted Buck. I like my wood handle 301, but I’d like it better in CPM 154, flat grinds, and long pull.

I went Buck as well, only because I'd really like to see a stockman and while I would rather have GEC fit and finish it seems like they're tee'd up for other patterns, at least until late in the year.

When it come down to it, I will get one no matter what. However, it would be nice to get something different so I voted for Buck.

It would be a nice change of pace to see a Buck traditional forum knife, especially since they have hosted a MFG sub forum here for many years... GEC... Crickets chirping in the distance.

I would like to see a Buck Stockman with a upgraded blade steel and ebony scales. A 110 or 112 forum knife would also be pretty cool.

I would honestly rather have a special 110 or 112 myself. Rather than a stockman. But I don't own a stockman, so a stockman would certainly be good for me. I just really think we could get a very special 112 at the $100 mark.

A 112 would be pretty special, but it's size and weight might make it a no go for a lot of folks, I'd be all over it personally.

I think what would make a 301 or 303 more special is that they aren't currently available from the Buck custom shop. You can at any time create your own custom 110/112 with upgraded steel and handle slabs.
