I find that anything that is more than three inches that people start getting intimidated. Also fixed blades that are four or more inches will scare people when you whip it out like you know what you are doing. A double edged tactical black Microtech Scarab would scare the bejeeves out of anyone when you deploy it - especially when you deploy it with a smile on your face...hehehe!
