These trizact CF belts (AKA Gator) are the freakin goods!! i'm on my third belt using the same A45 and A30.., with no noticable signs of wear. i go straight from 80 grit 977 cubitrons to the A45.

I waited far to long to try these.Dont let the price of belts discourage you. if these were twice the price i'd still buy them. for those who use them, you know what i mean. and for those whio hav'nt..,try 'em. you'll love it

Shawn, what are the grit equivalents to the A45 and A30 belts? Like, how would I order them to know I am getting specific grits....

Sam, i believe A45 is roughly 400 git, but it apprears a tad more aggressive. A30 is 600 grit. but again, they appear just a little more course. check out popsknifesupplies. it has the grit equivilancy listed..,i think :)

Man, cleaning up plunges is just great with these.i'll post a pic in a few. compared to using x-weight 3m belts these are so far above..,makes me giggle a little :D

They are very flexible also right? I got some "structured" abrasive belts from Doug from Bader, they are fantastic belts and I would like to look into getting more like them thanks for the info.

Ya i'm with you on this all the way. when i first ordered belts i ordered 5 A30 and 5 A45 and i have to say i have not used up one belt yet. thy keep going and going. but when thy come incontact with and edge or corner thay dont like that and will where out faster. but yes 2 thumbs up :thumbup:

I love my A45 and A16 belts. I have 3 belts each and used only 1 each of them for 1 year. They don't seem to wear out I guess if it is only used for removing previous scratches. I've been using A45 also for sharpening before stopping...

They're very flexible but not the best for wrapping into plunge cuts in my opinion
because of the thickness of the abrasive blocks themselves. I still like and use
them a lot (though not a lot of them because they just don't wear out).

Yea, it almost seems like they dont remove steel, just clean it up!! i really love how they clean a plunge. i find my plunges look best at 50 grit, but after cleaning up i've had a hard time keeping the original shape..,but these belts do it!! i wonder how well they do on cleaning up flats???

i've got probably 50-60 3m-ite belts that i baught for doing only flats, but after sitting just a couple weeks they've all curved/warped on me and are pretty much useless for flats as they remove more material at edges of blade

I don't like them for flats at all to be blunt and completely honest. As they wear out I have a very hard time cleaning up the flats (usually ricasso area)
Like em a lot otherwise. Also not really a fan for sharpening. I keep a nice CRISP 220 AO for that and it always does a better job.
They sure take the "bump" out though!

I did not see anything that impressed me about the Gators, except for the missing bump. Sorry. After they lost their initial "bite", which was sooner than expected, they just plain did not cut at all for me. I eventually went back to plain Jane belts and saved money. Perhaps its nothing more than my style of grinding versus another's style of grinding...I don't know. I had plenty of meat left on the belts...just no more bite...

I noticed that after the first 20 knives or so then someone around here said to take a wire brush and run acrossed them like you were cleaning them, I did not use heavy pressure and it worked great. I still havent worn my first one out yet.
