Just found out they're closing our plant

I hear about bosses crying in restaurants about there employees not showing any loyalty. I say Loyalty needs to be a two way street.:)

Steve, really sorry to hear the news. We will be praying for you and yours out here on the edge of Texas. I know this may sound trite, but everything happens for a reason. I truly believe that. It has happened to me more than once. Keep your head up and listen for the knock.

My Mom keeps telling me that God doesn't close one door without opening another. I hope such is the case.

I'm with Kis on this. You didn't lose the job it went with the inevitable change that sooner or later finds all of us. I went through it 10 years ago in the coal mines after 15 years of 60+ hour weeks. The Clean Air Act of 1990 killed high sulphur coal in my area. Best thing that ever happened to me as I look back. Of course, at the time I didn't think so. It all worked out fine. And you'll do fine. Good people always find jobs and do OK in the long run.

Hang in there.

Steve,

Just hang in there. Unfortunately, the story is all to common these days. Ours is an economy based on ever growing debt and slight of hand; we no longer produce or manage much of anything. If there is any comfort in all this, it is that the wave has already passed you by. Tomorrow can only bring you new opportunities; forget the worthless company, the endless frustrations, and the meaningless office political BS and move on.

Good luck.

Self-serving employers get self-serving employees. Which is what they deserve. The days of pensions and being married to the Co. are long gone. Oh, Well. some illusions need to be shattered. Nothing worse than corporate greed wearing the face of a friend.

Anybody read Robert Anton Wilson's "Reality is What You Can Get Away With."? He has an apt description of the 20th century--

"The age of Bull5h!t"
