Just Found Two Unfound Nuclear Payload Maps!!!!

Dang, I figured you'd be out there with a Bobcat that had a metal detector hanging of the front of it and you bring a e.tool.:p

Jerry was geocaching before it was cool.

drats... foiled again...

Good Luck, and if the water line has changed over the years and you need some diving done... I'm pretty sure I can cover it ;)

Oh, the waterline has changed alright. The spot where I took the picture of the back of the Welcome Center from is usually 8 feet deep! I figure you could just walk the bank and find outboard motors, rod and reels and shotguns dropped into the "deep" in the past.

Wow, looking at the photos you took, it may be long gone.

I've done a good bit of navigation courses and geocaching type stuff, the items are USUALLY in pretty obvious places. Look for major land marks, things that your eyes are imediately drawn to. Also, think like the guy that put it there (get good and sloshed) then look for it. I really hope you find it, I'm excited to see what it is!

This is going to get ugly. :p

I'm pretty sure that's code for: "As soon as we find it, I'm going to whack you in the head with MY shovel and run like hell." :D

LMAO!

Bobcat? Been there, done that. Still no INFI.

The adventure continues. I'm hitting the road for Santee to FIND THE INFI PAYLOAD!!!

I spent a couple of hours early this morning looking for the SC INFI, but no luck. The rip-rap looks fairly new, and it is 2-3 feet deep, so I am wondering if they have added some since Jerry was there. I am going to find out and will report back.
Oh yeah - Mdawg, where were you? Maybe we can hook up later on.

Dave, I got there about 9:00, not exactly the crack of dawn but it's an hour and a half drive from Cola. I saw where you had chopped a branch near the big tree but I hadn't found anything there earlier either. Maybe we can do something later.

I returned with a 'ferrous' only metal detector only to find out that many chunks of rip-rap have a magnetic signature so it was not as much help as I had hoped. The FBM was amazing at clearing tangled brush and vines.

I thing the Rangers didn't run me off because I was doing such a good job of clearing the bank.
Here's where I had been looking, (Dave's big tree is the first one you see on the right.)

and here is what I was looking at next.

Maybe I'll return to search further but I'm whipped for now. Good luck to the next guy.

That does look like some tough work... Keep your eye on the prize though! If you haven't found it, I may get down there next weekend and just start blasting the place up... What time do those Rangers cut out of there?

I don't know when they leave but if you are quiet they won't ever find you down in the brush!

Robin,

You talk the talk, but can you walk the walk??? :p We need pics, front and back of the tag.

Well, I guess it will have to wait. I had an MRI on my spine last week and it ain't gonna happen like I planned.:grumpy: But you NEVER know...

A girl needs a knife...

I loaded up the family last October and spent a few hours looking in Jekyll Island with no luck. It appeared that the area has had renovations completed including new walks. I had tried to email picture to Jerry when I got back but he never could receive them. I will see if I can locate them and post a few on here.
