I got two metal shelving units for $50 from some guy on Craigslist, and after driving an hour and a half down, and then back, I set them up and sorted all of my wood onto it. All I can say is, I have too much wood :p

Here's some pictures of my current set up. I'll probably have a giveaway soon...

Mike,

You obviously have way too much wood. What would the neighbors think? Send me at least half of it and I promise not to alert homeland security.:)

BTW, nice set-up for your wood......... I still say you have too much.

Robert

You can NEVER have to much wood or any kind of handle material............................Right gang???????????

You're such a good pal.

In the shop I have one set of ironwood and bloodwood scales, a couple of sets of mesquite and cocobolo scales, a couple of 2x4's, and some particle board. So, yeah...you got too much wood. Send me some. :p

Erik, yeah, they're leaning up against the corner, so they're pretty stable. I did have one fall over the other day, so maybe I need to get them stabilized professionally. ;)

Hey Mike,

That's impressive, and not at all too much. Your call on the give away, but I'd say take it easy. That doesn't seem like an excessive inventory at all. If you need to move some, consider package deals or something. We want to see you continue to succeed. Keep a healthy cash flow going (especially the incoming side of the equation) so you can improve your shop, etc.

All the best, Phil

I'm thinking more of a giveaway on the top shelf. The top shelf is all of the wood I set aside for myself. And it's blocks deep, so theres twice as much as it looks.

That is way more organized than mine. Man, Mike, if you were coming to Blade Show I could take you to a store in Atlanta that would literally blow your mind.

Your very organized for a fellow of 16 yrs old Mike, you could give my 20 something kids a lesson or two. Heck, I could use a lesson or two from you. Is that a little stabilizing chamber I see on the floor? I'm going to have order some of your maple & Walnut soon!

Great Seeing Your Progression,

Bob,

Hershey, PA

Your are a freak of nature Mike. A normal 16 yr old would have a huge mess of things. Hope my boys when they are your age are as organized and take the initiative like you have. Great job Mike!

Bob: Yeah, that is a stabilizing unit. I haven't used it yet, but I have it all set up and ready to... I'll do that soon.

Frank: My bedroom is still pretty bad, but now that I have all my knife stuff out of it, it's getting pretty clean too :)

The first and second shelves and Nargusta (not including the very top) are all exotics from Belize.

For anyone who cares:
I finally put some wood in my stabilizing unit. It's under vacuum now and will be until Friday, when I'll take it out and let it dry, then I'll cut the blocks open to see the penetration, then put a few scales through tests.

You can NEVER have to much wood or any kind of handle material............................Right gang???????????

I feel the same way about steel. :)

Mike do you think your gonna go to ashokan this year or the next? I would like to be able to shake the hand of another young knife maker.

Dan: I will not this year, but next year is a possibility. It really depends on the dates of it (if it interferes with school) and the location.

Mike,

When your able too....could you provide information on the vacuum set-up:

Pump,

Chamber,

Indicators,

Hoses, etc....

I'd like to try and throw one together myself. Let us know how your first batch turns out.

Thanks,

Bob
