Don't you just love free stuff? A certain website didn't meet their shipping commitment on a couple of my orders and a 5 minute phone call resulted in a $25 free credit. That went to the purchase of a Ontario Utilitac II and I even have $0.03 left over, LOL.

Not at all it was a prime deal, I don't need my other orders in two days.
So your order didn't arrive in 2 days, you state that's OK ("I don't need my other orders in two days") yet you called them to complain and they give you a free $25 just to appease the inconvenience of your paid order not arriving at their estimated time during the busiest shipping season of the year and to you that's a gift?! And then you get online to brag about it?
You know amazon ships approximately 300 packages per second during the holiday rush, that's a huge load on their system and even bigger on USPS, cut them some slack...
At least it was amazon and not a real knife dealer (site sponsor), curious if you would of done the same to a small time knife dealer or if you can justify it cause it's Amazon.

How much was the original order for?

Is this the new normal? Is it now OK to start calling every seller who's item doesn't arrive exactly on time and complaining till I get free stuff too?

If I did any selling here you'd make my ignore list, personally I wouldn't want to deal with buyers that feel entitled to free stuff cause of a slight shipping delay, especially during this time of year.

#move this to GBU and/or W&C please...

There’s a difference between an estimated shipping date and an advertised contractual deadline. I believe in this case it is a guarantee and a reason many shop there and maybe pay extra for a prime membership. Because of that they should absolutely be held accountable. Actually if they are not held accountable it is not fair to the small business owners that don’t make those promises and may lose business because of it.

LOL yes let's cut some slack to poor little Amazon, the largest online retailer with a stock price of damn near $1200 a share and whose CEO is the single richest man in the world.

$25 thrown at a complaining customer is not even a thought in their minds.

Amazon Prime is a service that costs a yearly subscription. Part of what you get for paying for this service is guaranteed 2 day shipping on Prime eligible orders. It is on Amazon to make this right if they fail to commit to their guarantee. For me they usually extend my subscription an extra month at no cost, though I would happily take a $25 credit since I do a lot of shopping there (another reason why it's on Amazon to make it right).

I'm a very, very easy going guy. I generally don't let little things like delays get to me. It happens, I understand that.

However, I 100% totally agree with you. I have been an Amazon Prime customer for about 10 years. While pretty much 100% of my knife purchases come from BFC, my family spends thousands of dollars with Amazon every single year. I pay them 100 dollars every year with the agreement that if the product is labeled "Prime", I get it in 2 days. That's the deal.

Now, I recently tried to buy something for my wife for Christmas on the 3rd week of November. It wasn't going to be a make or break item. We're adults here;) However it was something she had been wanting.

I ordered the good, waited 2 days...nothing. checked the status, "We're so sorry it's late. Give it a few more days and get back with us"...nothing. I tracked the package and it had left and returned to the same Fulfilment Center and was stuck. I contacted customer service, and they said there was nothing they could do. They would refund my money (this was even purchased on an Amazon credit card), but I would need to reorder the item. By this time it was late into the first week of december, still plenty of time. No big deal.

I go to reorder the item and it is now THIRTY DOLLARS higher and no longer listed as Prime nor is it guaranteed by Christmas. It's a Christmas themed item, so basic Supply and Demand applies. I contact Amazon again. They will not lower the price nor will they pay to have it shipped within the originally promised 2 days. Instead they give me a 20 dollar credit...thanks.

So, no, I will lose no sleep if Amazon offers up complimentary credit when they screw up. I would never expect this from a smaller dealer, and it's one of the reasons I buy local as much as possible. There are just so many mundane items that Amazon has readily available. Prime, generally, is a good deal. However, you don't get to be the lean, mean Everything Store that drives down prices to the point that it's nearly impossible for others to compete...AND have any slack cut.

Anyway, I am guilty of driving this thread off the rails further. I apologize

I am a big fan of Ontario. They make such affordable quality tools. Purchased or credited, that's a great little knife for the money. I'd like to pick up one as a rough and tumble work knife. My work folders generally end up full of mud and used to cut all manner of undesirable stuff. I know the Ontario can stand up to that sort of work for sure.

Give a quick review when you can:)

We've bought so much stuff through Prime over the years that they should send us a small cheap car for free !

Seriously , I remember before Amazon type service and now we are a bit spoiled .;)

It's still around. I don't expect freebies from other stores. It sort of is the standard from big box retailers though. They have the profit margin to entice consumers, so it's a win-win when you shop there.

Most of the posters in this thread have it right. Paid a membership fee for two day shipping, if they don't meet their end of the bargain, you bet a 5 minute phone call is going to happen, they also added a month of Prime extension in addition to the $25. To the others in this thread, sour grapes are free.
