I've been wanting a PM2 for a while now and when one became available from a certain Shoppe, I jumped on it. After handling it, I'm not sure it's for me. I love the way it feels in the hand, I like the look of it, how light it is, and it came super sharp. The first thing I noticed was it was a hair off center which isn't a big deal because it can be fixed. The biggest problem I'm having is deploying the PM2. Like I mentioned already, this is my first Spyderco and I wanted to try them out, but it feels a little stuck or maybe I just don't have the finger strength. Is it a finger and hand flicking motion at the same time?

I own (and love) several. Could be you're just not used to deploying with the hole, as I have no issue opening with my choice of index or middle finger, or thumb. Try just putting in the tip (easy fellas :) ) of index or middle finger, and 'flick' the finger straight. Good luck, hope it works out for you.

Trying but it's not flicking open fully, and when I gave it some help with some wrist action, my index finger got slightly snagged by the release.
Than I knicked myself a few times without drawing any blood.

I own two of these now and love them. They feel a tad tight but I have no problem getting my thumb pressed into the hole and pushing it out enough so the flicking motion deploys it the rest of the way. How long have you had it and how much have you practiced with it?

Loosen the pivot about 1/8 of a turn, and you'll be amazed. Just make sure you don't loosen it so much that you have blade-wiggle from side to side. You do want it to have enuf friction in order to break in the knife.

P.s. YES, THUMB

If if I loosen the pivot even a little won't it gradually become looser and looser?

Just a tiny bit, so you reduce the friction enough that you can deploy with your thumb. I have done precisely that with one of my PM2's when it was necessary. Often (usually) not required.

Just got it today. Playing with the pivot didn't do much to make it easy to flip open. Probably just needs some break in time.

Congrats. I am pretty new to knives but I recently got a Delica 4 for my first Spydy and they are awesome. I was sure I was getting a PM2 for my Bday but that Zt 0350ts is calling to me. I am definitely getting the PM2 at some point though. I know it will be a better EDC for me over the ZT but the want factor overrides reasoning.

Is your Delica easy to deploy because mine hasn't been easy even with loosening the pivot.

It doesn't open nearly as easy as my Grip. My Delica is certainly tight not to mention small and very sharp so I probably won't even try to flip it open like my Benchmade.

Give it some time. I was a little awkward trying to open my first my first PM2 as well, but with a little break in and practice it became my favorite knife to open/close. The compression lock is by far my favorite.

Do you use the hole to open your Delica or use two hands?
