Just got a Tenacious, Have Questions

I just received my Tenacious and I can't see the bronze washers on both sides of the blade. I loosened the pivot screw and maybe one fell into another part of the knife. I don't remember if the washers were visible on both sides when I first handled it. Are they both visible for you? If I had to disassemble the Tenacious, how would I do it? I've never dissassembled a liner lock before.

I can plainly see both washers by holding the knife vertical, blade closed, and looking down from the top.

The one on the "top" or non-liner lock side is large and very visible thru the clip holes. I "think" I see the one on the opposing side, but it appears to be smaller and harder to see.

If memory serves the washers are identical in size on both sides of the blade. They're very thin (almost like tinfoil) so it's quite possible one could fall out if you loosened the pivot screw.

On mine, they washers are slightly different in size. They are both visible through the clip holes though.

when I took my Tenacious apart, it has 4 washers. Two on each side of the blade. the washers also had two different ODs. the smaller ones went on the lock side.

How easy was it to reassemble? Some simple steps would help.

Also, to clarify: I see a larger bronze colored washer on one side and a smaller brass colored one on the other. Is this like what you who have noticed a difference see?

I would have contacted Spyderco but I received the Tenacious after they close on Friday for Saturday and Sunday.

Thank you and to all who have helped.

Now would someone like to point me to where I can find a disassembly guide for the Tenacious or liner locks in general?

I have a Sharpmaker, which angle should I have them the stones at for flat-ground and sabre-ground Spyderco knives? I've read somewhere that they have 30 degree edges.

In the video that comes with the Sharpmaker, Sal Glesser says you should normally use 40 degrees for all routine sharpening, despite the fact that Spyderco knives do ship with a narrower angle.

Just to be clear, I posted this without being in the proximity of my Tenacious. In looking at the knife I have no reason to doubt the accuracy of the posts that followed, which correctly observe that the washers are different sizes on the sides of the blade.

Excellent link 2 brothers. Murdoc took some great pictures. Very interesting that the Tenacious has 2 washers on each side.

What, you didn't think I was a member to the Spyderco forum?
I have been for a long long time. ;)

I figured one of the regulars would chime in with some help.
Go here, pictures for you.

Thanks. Looks like there's less than 42 parts. ;) Shouldn't me take as long to piece together as my Delica.

I hope I'm not pushing the decent length for a thread like this but I've got another question:

Do you notice friction when opening and closing the blade slowly? I held down the liner and it seems to be from the tang rubbing the liner, making a dull screeching sound. It's still easy to open with a quick thumb push. I think that's normal, unless others don't experience it.

Didn't even occur to me that you wouldn't be. :D

I'm a member, too. Only make it over there once or twice a month, though.

Not sure exactly what you mean. It doesn't freely swing open and closed like a Griptilian with Axis lock. Guess it might if you really backed off the pivot screw a lot.
There is slight resistance opening and closing, not affected by the liner lock. But it's smooth and even, certainly nothing close to a screeching sound.

I mean that the blade doesn't open as easily as it did when I first used the Tenacious. There is now much more resistance than any other liner lock I've had.
