Just got back from today from a 3 day stay in the woods in upstate ny...it was awesome temp was cold low 20's at night low 30's during the day and we had a lot of wind but we had a fantastic time Talked to some coyotes and an owl at night did alot of exploring and burned....ALOT of wood....blades for this trip where a fiskars sport axe and a buck 112 both worked awesomely.....just wanted to share my enthusiasm...I'm bushed going to bed.. Thanks for reading

Sounds like a blast. I'm thinking of getting the Mrs. to pick me up a Gerber sport axe for a christmas present. Are they pretty decent?

the gerber's and the fiskars I believe are made by the same company my buddy brought up his gerber pack axe and the head was identical to the fiskars...the extra handle length on the sport model was awesome the thing cut through wood like a beaver on crack...when I first got it however I found that upon the first use the edged chipped and rolled..I was told that sometimes the very edge gets weakened during the grinding process...and was advised to file out the knicke and sharpen it up I did so and now the thing is awesome.... definitely worth the money great axe...

where did you camp...if you don't mind me asking? I live in the dacks and know the area well.

sounds like a good time riley....

i need to check out one of those gerber/fiskars axes....

Thanks guys I was a but further south of the dax... although I do camp up there sometimes... this weekend I was in the northern part of Harriman state park in Orange county.
