...and it feels fantastic! My new found blade fever started off last month with a 556 for edc, followed by a Gerber EAB to save the Mini-Grip's edge for utility purposes, then it was between a 710 & Civilian to really give me peace of mind.

Thanks to all the reviews here I opted for the 710 and I'm happier than a pig in shit.
EDIT: everything about the knife is absolutely perfect.

Benchmade will send you a new clip with screws for free.

As for the coloration difference, a dab of oil (like from your hands, lube, etc.) will result in even coloration.

Chip in clip finish - Free clip from benchmade could be sent to you in the mail
Side to side play - Tighten the pivot with a Torx driver.. All of my benchmade axis model knives came a little looser than I like them
Discoloration- Looks just like mine from the past.. Which seems to blend after a little use...

Dont send it in lol....

I've bought 3 BM710's and they all came with side/side bladeplay. Just use a torx driver and that fixes it.

:D I am being kinda picky, huh! Thanks for the input guys, I'm actually glad it doesn't have to leave my hands now.

My 710 came perfect out of the box from New Graham, about three weeks ago. I agree with you -- I'm very enamored of this knife.

I just tightened the pivot with the ball of my thumb by pressing and turning and now there's too much tension. I know it still has to go through the break-in period, and I could use blue loc-tite if it still gets loose after that, but isn't it weird I can get too much using only my finger?
I'm talking a good amount, I really have to flick my wrist to lock the blade.

Is it just the nature/mass of the large blade that makes the pivot get looser quicker than my Mini-Grip?

There isn't really much of a break in period. Just play with the tightness until it's just right. You shouldn't have to really flick to lock it. Just loosen it a tad more if it's too tight.

Thanks Tenille, they're 10 bucks at Target.

Thanks Mongo, Reek, I guess I have to get some loctite.

I need to order a new 710 at some point I lost mine. Great knife, bit on the hardside to get a evenly sharp blade due to the recurve, classy knife though definitely.

I found some torx wreches in the garage and adjusted her, and the tension is perfect now with no blade play :o

This knife is worth every penny:)

Check to see if there are marks of the blade hitting the inside of the back spacer. This was a problem that was raised (and fixed) over at the BM forum.

Is that what you're talking about Mech? This is bumming me out a little.

Should I go ahead and send it in to Benchmade?

I would send it in if it's hitting the inside of the backspacer.

I just now noticed mine has the same thing. I never noticed it making a difference in sharpness or anything. I have had this for over a year too. I say no big deal. Not worth parting with it for a month. The cuts in my backspacer are more deep than yours, it's just a matter of letting it wear in I think.

Don't stress over it though!
