Hey guys, i have been a longtime lurker of this forum. I have been a knife person my entire life and have a fairly decent collection of the standards like benchmade, spyderco, mora etc.

After reading many posts here i decided to pick up a BK2 as a heavy use bushcraft knife. I 4x4 A LOT and seem to always be beating up the folder that i have in my pocket cutting wires, cables, tubing, tires, steel, trees, the list goes on and on and on!!!!

Another major reason that i settled on the BK2 was its "mod-ablitiy". I have the curse of not being able to leave anything stock, cars, guns, bikes, girls. i try to modify them all!

So this thread will be dedicated to my journey and mod-process with this knife. I will keep all of you updated with its mods and adventures!

So here are my first impressions as i bought this knife online sight-unseen-

1. this thing is HEAVY!

2. I have really big hands and the stock handle is a little on the small side

3. the construction is impressive. extremely thick, very sharp.

4. the sheath is top-rate. i will make sure that any mods that i do will incorporate the stock sheath.

Pics below

I look forward to now being a more active member of this forum!

Welcome to the BKT forum, brother, glad you stopped in.

You got a real stand by your 4x4 kinda knife there, amigo, and a blade that I personally classify as a blank slate. You can make it "yours" unlike any others, and love doing it.

I'm gonna hold back the rabble, you know, the ones with pitchforks and torches, but I can't hold them back long, so, best be gettin' some pics up PDQ. :D

The rabble will not be denied! Pictures, pics and pix!

And you can post a pic of your rig as well.

Ok so i throw up some pics!

The benchmade that i am using for comparison is a 790 subrosa that my Ex gave to me last year. Its my EDC and i use it extensively

Look at the difference in thickness! No wonder its so heavy!!

i love the sheath, its gonna work wonderfully for my purpose

Welcome to the forum. I just ordered the BK2 today. My first Becker. Will be my primary zombie circumciser. Psyched!

Congrats on the new blade, I know that thing will serve you well.

What kind of wheeling do you like to do? I mostly do basic trails right now (drive a 97 zj with a 3in lift and 31's), but my background is in Rockcrawling, and someday when I have money, I'll have a real crawler :).

Oh yea, and welcome to the forums. Stick around, there are lots of great people here (and the contests for free BKT's isn't bad either :p).

I have an 83 CJ that has been sitting in a barn for several years because I have no money :(

I own a company in the motocross industry so i ride and offroad A LOT. I hit the moto track at least 1x a week, i shoot for practicing 2x and racing on the weekends. I love to wheel. I personally have built my truck to "do it all". i love gnarly trails and rocks. at the same time i like to be able to blast around in the dunes and desert. i absolutely LOVE mudding :)

here is an old clip of it behind my old house. I need to make an updated video, its pretty cool!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W09y08OS-JQ

my current rig started out as an 82 k1500 GMC Diesel. here are some of the mods

full ton running gear
dana 60 front 4.10 gears Open diff right now, selectable hubs, stock internals
14 bolt rear 4.10 gears with a detroit

SM465 granny low tranny
np203 T case ( i have a 205 that i am going to do a doubler with in the next year)

engine-

Detroit 6.2 L diesel
82 RED BLOCK
GM3 Turbo charger w custom mandrel bent exhaust.
Stack shooting right through the hood

front suspension is 52 in springs no anti roll bar, really flexy but still very stable
rear is basically stock, i am going to have deaver build me some springs once i break these ones.

tires for the moment are 35 in pro comp mudders. ya they arent the greatest but they were free.
CURRENTLY IN THE WORKS-

SCORE tagged rollcage. yes, this thing will be legal to race at SCORE offroad events. one of my best friends owns Everson performance and builds some of the best trophy trucks in the business. This is his Xmas present to me. Full Cro-molly madness!!!

once the cage is done here is what else is planned-

go to 4.88 gear
throw a locker in the front, probably selectable because i dont want a locker in there if im going to race it.
tires between 40-42 in havent decided yet

Saftey system including the following-
fire supression
GPS navigation and emergency beacon
5 points, buckets
re-breather system

I am very blessed to be able to do what i love for a living. Its an incredible amount of work and there are very tough times. However, its also one of the most rewarding things imaginable when a big goal is reached and you know that it was YOUR company and YOUR hard work that did it. I love my job.

Congrats on the outstanding purchase! Way to post some pics - I was about to rabble it up too.

Am I the only one that feels the need to take out his BK2 and mess with it after seeing a thread like this one? :D

The BK2 is in a class of its own. If you get the micarta handles, you can sand and shape them a bit to fit your hand. Plus IMO they are a huge improvement over stock. Keep us posted on your mods.

Nice, i almost picked up an 86 Silverado with the 6.2 in high school. That truck had a tranny that was about to go, so it didn't work out. Plus, the failure rate of the mains on most of the 6.2L was pretty bad. The red is the way to go though. Also, I grew up dirtbiking (not hardcore, but my dad and I cruised around the mountains on our XRs), so you should fit right in around here.

And watch out, getting nice knives can be just as addicting as offroading. The only difference, is that it feels relatively cheap in comparison :). Now we just need some user shots. You'll be super impressed with what the BK2 can do.

The BK9 is probably my favorite right now, but I'm super excited about the tweeners coming out, and the BK16 and my BK9 will likely be my new woods team :).

i will be posting user pics rest assured. I will be spending xmas up in gold country on my families ranch, should be lots and lots of things to use the BK2 on!

I already have several mods in mind. however, ive got to use it stock first. Im guessing the first mods will come after the new year.

I will be sure to update this thread often

Very sweet, The bk2 is the stuff of legends, forged from steel stolen from the throne of zues on mt olympus. Btw have you drawn your knife and resheathed it a few times? There used to be some dulling issues with the sheaths since they just over engineered em (used super hard glass filled nylon material but it was TOO good for its own good and actually dulled the knife) Put it in and take it out a few times and check sharpness. If it seems to dull you can run a small file or one of those finger nail board thingys inside and just give the edge some clearance and it wont dull no more. Just a tip from a bk2 lover to a another. Enjoy its awesome

hey mutt welcome to the madness.. nice knife you have there....

love the sound of a turbo spooling.. :D

I take it you glamis, whitewater pending what part of socal you live of course .... motocross glen halen, perris that sorta thing..

take care

clich- Thanks for letting me know about that I will look into that.

battle creek knives-

I used to live in central california before moving down to orange county to pursue my business, not enough moto industry up north.

When im riding mx my favorite tracks are hands down Glen Helen and Milestone. I really want to get out to the new Elsinor track.

When im out to ride and PLAY, thats an important part as riding is now part of my JOB, i like to go out to Johnson valley. As much as i enjoy hauling ass around an MX track i love the beauty and openness of the desert. Just going for a several hour long trail ride is awesome.

My favorite place to take the truck would also have to be Johnson valley, the diversity of things to wheel on out there is amazing. you have insane rock crawling at Anderson dry lake to sand dunes, to high speed roads and everything in between. I have gone out before and wheeled ALL day and only made it 10-15 miles. I love that place.

Im not a fan of orange county thats for sure, not many things to do out my front door that i can use my new BK2 for, lol. However, i do get out fairly often and cannot wait to get to play with this thing.

Looks like i have found a pretty cool and active forum! you guys know how to make a dude feel welcome!

Congrats and welcome to the forum. The BK2 is a beast. The sheath with some mod will work better or you might want to get an aftermarket kydex sheath.

as the 1%, i welcome your new addiction, and am saddened you do not yet have them all :)
