Congrats on your first, i can bet anything it wont be your last....My first was the BK2 as well, helluva tank knife. I beat the crap outta mine, its almost and edc, and it keeps coming back..Welcome to the addiction.
Nice! Soley from reading the forums (longer story that I've ranted enough about), I've heard the Tek Lok is a simple way to mod the sheath so it doesn't flap. The large one is the way to go, and it can be worn vertical or scout. When I eventually get one (the gf says not to consider replacing the one that was stolen until after Santa's left town, which is weird because I'm a Jew I'm also going to add cable clamps for firesteel loops, though when I had my sheath and was looking at the spacing it appeared that I was going to need a longer firesteel than the simple Light my Fire one I already had.
I'm working on my entry for the batoning contest right now. Let's just say that I have abused this knife. Seriously, I have been using this thing like I've been trying to break it. I don't want to spoil my entry in the batoning contest but I've got to show off the wear that I've put this thing through in just 2 days!!!!!
Btw the knife still slices through paper like its nothing. I can't believe it. For those of you that said this won't be last last Becker, you are absolutely correct. I'll be picking up a few more shortly.
My first Becker was a BK2 as well. I had owned some pretty hefty knives before that, but when I handled the BK2 for the first time, I thought -" D@#n ,this thing is heavy for it's size ! "
But, I noticed after a few days of handling / using it, the knife felt a lot lighter. Muscle memory and all that ,I guess- I simply got use to it.
Now, after using Beckers ,most of my other knives seem rather insufficient in the mass dept..
here is what i built for the batoning contest. things got crazy and i wasnt able to enter the contest. Oh well! it was a blast building this for sure.
Right after these pics were taken i spent 3 days camping in big sur, i used the BK2 EXTENSIVELY. it did it all from splitting wood for the campfire to cutting food for cooking. it was awesome!
enjoy some pics of my log cabin!
damn, ill have to find a completed pic. lol
Also, it is currently getting modded heavily. be prepared......
Congrats on your BK2. It's fast become my hands-down favorite and is my EDC. My only alteration has been to the sheath belt-loop. I took it to a leather shop and had him stitch the belt-loop with a "high" and a "low" carry position for my 1.75" pants belt for everyday use. Now the fit is snug against my side and it rides high and close to my side, no flopping around at all. I gave him $5 for the work and I'm very pleased with the sheath now. That absurdly large belt loop was my only complaint.
I think it looks badass. And its nice to see someone who beats the crap outta their BKT.
Man, I tell you what, pound for pound, BKT owners use their blades. Not to say, that other blades don't get used, but BKT's were bred for it, with a pedigree in whoopassology (real word, look it up).
