Just Got My First SAK...Now What??

This is amazing!!!
Didn't know that there are THAT many SAK lovers out there:eek:
As you can see I am from the SAK country:D

Well, I have to confess that I am not a big fan, because for me and many other swiss men it's just military issue....
And it's in action every year for two weeks (my military duty!).

Anyway,

Ahhhhhhh. The good old Vic Cybertool 34. It's a an awesome little tool. I carry mine in the nlyon sheath that came with my crappy Gerber 400 multi-tool.

I haven't had to do a single thing with mine as far as maintenance goes, except maybe a quick touch-up of the larger blade with my SharpMaker.

I love your Secret Order of Swiss Army Knives graphic. I clicked on it, hoping it was a new club. No new club, alas, but that's a cool graphic.

I just thought of this... do the swiss even have an army? I thought they were neutral lol...

For large SAKs I have found that a horizontal belt pouch is the most comfortable for me. My current carry is the huge Victorinox SwissChamp XLT (a.k.a. CyberTool XL). It fits neatly in my Eagle Industries knife sheath. (Most knife sheaths aren't nearly wide enough for it.)

And the Swiss certainly do have an army! Terrain isn't the only reason why they have never been successfully invaded during recorded history... :p

Oh, wow. Thank you. I hope you realize you're feeding my addiction. Grin. Are there any products emblazoned with that logo available? That's really a cool graphic. I'm such a SAK nerd.

I always have a Victorinox SAK in my pocket, a Classic on my keyring and usually a Tinker in my left front pocket as well. The Cyber Tool looks great, but it's more than I currently need...the Tinker suits me fine.

The Swiss army is pretty impressive, after military service a Swiss vet is 'in the reserves' until he's 49 (?) or so, with 2 week 'refresher' service mandatory. If you're interested, here's an excellent book about the Swiss army by John McPhee La Place De LA Concorde Suisse. From the Amazon review:

"Anyone who has ever traveled in Switzerland cannot help but to have remarked upon the overwhelming tranquility of the country. But this tranquility is illusory. As John McPhee writes in La Place de la Concorde Suisse, a rich journalistic study of the Swiss Army's role in Swiss society, "there is scarcely a scene in Switzerland that is not ready to erupt in fire to repel an invasive war." With a population smaller than New Jersey's, Switzerland has a standing army of 650,000 ready to be mobilized in less than 48 hours. The Swiss Army, known in this country chiefly for its little red pocketknives, is so quietly efficient at the arts of war that the Israelis carefully patterned their own military on the Swiss model. You'll understand why after reading this outstanding book."

I read it years ago, and have made it a point NEVER to invade Switzerland since then. ;)

I am a devout fan of Victorinox SAKs. I have a Swisschamp on me all the time. It is often very difficult to choose between sex and tinkering with my Vic Swisschamp:D

I often just carry it in my jacket pocket on in its leather sheath on my belt on weekends.

Buzzbait...I just love that logo...I have to become a member and I will apply this instant...please put in a good word for me....THANKS!!!

Oh yes, in order to preserve peace and neutrality, the Swiss have one of the best organised (and equipped) armies in the world. Don't mess with the Swiss!!!!!

I tried to register with Knifeforums.com and got an error. I sent a email containing the error message off to their general email address.
