I'm pretty new to knife collecting but if they make a larger more beefy folder then this I would love to know. This thing is a mammoth and feels great all around. Locks up like a bank vault and the liner lock is crazy solid and thicker then any liner lock I have ever come across.

Very pleased!!!

LOL, well that figures. The pictures don't do it justice that's for sure. Just found the Retribution 1 on the web and it's hard to imagine the size of that one considering the #2 is so big.

I've got a Retrib. 1 and it's one of a very few knives that even I call a mega-folder. :)

Nice knife! How is the texturing on the handle?

I have both the 1 and the 2... I would describe the texture of the scales as semi-smooth, yet grippy. The finish is smooth, but there is a fine texture that can be felt.

I'm pleased that I was able to find both locally at firesale prices. Alas, that was a year or so ago. IMHO both are very nice knives.

Couldn't have described it better Jeff. Also, I think the handle feels great in the hand. The shape fits my hand perfectly. I wonder how well the #1 would feel compared.

Even if it is two inches shorter, I still put the Retribution 1 in the same class as the Voyager X2. The Voyager is long, but the Retrib has a lot of bulk to it.

I bought a Retribution 2 last year and I agree with your comments 100%.

When I was deciding if I should buy it, I wasn't too happy about it lacking a pocket clip. But after seeing a picture of the knife from the top , I couldn't believe how thick the liners were.

Some of the product descriptions on the web lists the frame as stainless, but the one I bought is titanium.
It's made in Italy by Fox and definitely a keeper

They were great folders.
According to Hossom, Ontario never really advertised them. He said he sometimes had monthly royalty checks for $5.

Too bad, they were very well built knives. Enjoy yours.

I have both of the Hossom Retribution folders and in my opinion they are incredible bargains. The titanium liner lock is so thick that it may as well be considered a frame lock; the larger of the two fits my hand like it was custom made for me. I've used the larger Retribution on camping trips dozens of times and after tons of heavy use it works as well as the day I bought it. I don’t know if these are still being made but I’ve seen that they're still available at a few online knife sites. Both knives are a bit too thick to be carried around in your pocket unless you’re wearing loose cargo pants but then Mr. Hossom didn’t design either folder to be carried in your pants pocket. These knives never received the attention they deserved and Jerry Hossom did one Hell of a great job in designing both these folders.

Glad to hear that you’re enjoying your new knife!

Now I just have to keep a look out for the Retribution 1 to complete the set. @jack lowe -- I'll try to post some pics tonight when I get home. :D

looking forward to seeing your pics! Esav Benyamin, didn't there used to be three Retributions 1,2, and 3? :)

I used to have the big one. I actually sanded the handles down flat, and added a clip through the laynard hole. It rode deep and filled up the pocket. Sold it though, but would definately like another one. I bet a Tom Krein reedge of it would be outstanding. I know they are still available so I will have to look into getting another before they are all gone. Those flat scales still fely really good in my hand though!:D

Well, after thinking about it and fondly remembering the huge honkin' knife that clipped into my pocket that magical summer, wife left me in July and at first I was troubled, but it turned out to be a BLESSING in disquise!! Anyway, I went online and placed my order for one. I am waiting for an email to confirm they are in stock.:D:D

Gee, thanks a lot stevelenti for causing me to spend money......................:grumpy:;):D

Got my Retribution 1 today and am still amazed at how big it is, and this is the third one I've had!!! I actually started a thread on it so I will just say that I agree that this knife was really overlooked by many due to the lack of advertisement. And there were three different models prototyped but I don't see any of the small ones around.

I seem to recall them being fairly hard to find for a while. I thought they were selling well, but I guess I was wrong.

I really love my Retribution 1 and plan on never selling it. The build quality is excellent, materials likewise. Very ergonomic for a really fat knife. The Ti liners are amazing!
