Just got myself a Victorinox Pioneer range, "Electrician".

That's the great beauty of SAK's; the tools have way more uses than their obvious primary intent. The limit is the owners imagination. The can opener is a great corkscrew, staple puller, pot hook at a campsite. The bottle opener is a good light duty pry tool, small putty knife, small nail puller, the alox awl is a great zip tie cutter, and so on. All the stuff that will mess up a 'real' knife.

that is a very cool knife. I currently have the cadet and intend to buy the pioneer and electrician. The can opener should have more credit than it is given though. I think some may forget or not realize that it makes a very good #2 Philips screwdriver and a nice flat head, and lastly, can opener. I think they put it on more with the intention of the can opener being used as a Philips screwdriver.

I also use the can opener blade as a scraper, besides using the awl for that. Sometimes the can opener is better, if the surface being scraped has some "valleys" as when scraping the wax off certain apples. Plus, I've used the can opener as a minor "hooking/pulling" tool before.

Got caught without a can opener a few times in the woods when I really could have used one. Used the blade of my knife. Hated to do that. So now I carry one of these on my key chain. 50 cents. Come in very handy on more than one occasion.

The lowly P 38 can opener. You can find the at most outdoor stores. You never no when you'll need to get into a can of pork & beans or soup that just happens to not have a pull tab.
